Position Summary:
This position supports the Sterile Processing Technician Training program under the Continuing Education and Workforce Development Healthcare Careers Department. The adjunct instructor prepares students for the International Association of Healthcare Central Service Material Management (IAHCSMM) Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) exam and 400 hour clinical externship experience leading to full certification through the development of engaging lectures and interactive classroom labs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Develop engaging lectures using the IAHCSMM CRCST textbook
2. Prepare interactive labs for students to practice concepts
3. Create both written and skills assessments to measure competency
4. Prepare students for their 400 hour clinical externship
5. Participate in appropriate professional development activities to assure currency in both discipline, knowledge and instructional methods
Required Minimum Qualifications:
1. Must possess current IAHCSMM CRCST (or higher) certification.
2. Related professional experience or appropriate professional licensure in content area or closely related field
3. Knowledge of developing course curriculum including PowerPoint presentations.
4. Excellent public speaking and interpersonal communication skills.
Desired Qualifications:
1. Previous experience teaching or in corporate training.
2. Experience using Blackboard learning management system.
3. Associate's degree or above.
4. Three years of experience as a sterile processing technician or managing sterile processing department.
