Summary of Job Duties:This posting will fill multiple positions.
The Sterile Processing Technician is a vital part of our team at the Orthopaedic and Spine Hospital (TOSH) to provide the absolute best outcomes for our patients. This position decontaminates (disassembles, cleans by hand and/or machine) medical instruments & materials in the Sterile Processing Department. This is a position that has a lot of growth opportunities within the department and the healthcare profession.
Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED

  • Ability to follow oral instructions, read, and write

  • Computer literacy in Word/Excel

  • Good communication skills

Preferred Experience:

  • Two (2) years of SPD leadership experience preferred or Surgical Technical experience

  • Professional License/Certification: IAHCSMM/CBSPD Certified

  • CRCST/CIS

  • Sterile Processing Experience


Additional Information:

Responsibilities:

  • Decontaminate (disassemble, clean by hand and/or machine) medical instruments/materials.

  • Assemble and package, inspect and test instruments, reassemble sets, place sets in proper containers and/or wrapping, and load/transport loaded carts with prepared sets.

  • Maintain a record of loads and items being removed from the department for processing. Transport loads to and from CSS and prepare proper storage of instruments and equipment.

  • Use and test sterilizing equipment; perform dart and biological tests for autoclaves; perform diagnostic and biological tests for Steris sterilizer.

  • Record and accurately interpret results of tests; assist OR staff; help locate needed supplies and equipment.

  • Communicate professionally even when under pressure/fulfilling demanding and/or stressful requests.

  • Position revolves around serving the Operating Room's (OR's) sterile instrument and equipment needs.

  • Must understand the URGENCY of the OR staff's requests.

  • Answer directly to the Sterile Processing Manager.

  • Other related duties as assigned.
