Job description

OVERVIEW

The Process Engineer is the hands-on expert embedded in Moonshot's production operation. You own the details-developing standardized work instructions, conducting time studies, driving root cause analysis on defects, and leading continuous improvement at the workstation level. Working directly with floor operators and production managers, you'll turn tribal knowledge into documented, repeatable, and trainable processes. Your work feeds the Manufacturing Engineer's system-level planning with the real data needed to balance lines, forecast capacity, and reduce cost.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Time Studies & Cycle Time Standards: Design time study methodology, create templates, and analyze data to establish baseline and optimized cycle times for all major products.
  • Standardized Work Instructions: Develop clear, operator-friendly work instructions for every major assembly and wiring process.
  • Process Improvements: Identify and implement improvements to assembly sequences, wiring methods, and workstation workflows. Lead floor-level kaizens; escalate improvements with broader cost or layout implications to the Manufacturing Engineer.
  • Root Cause Analysis: Lead RCA on defects, rework, and quality escapes using structured problem-solving methods (5 Why, Fishbone, 8D).
  • Process Validation: Validate new and revised processes to confirm they meet quality, safety, and efficiency standards before full deployment.
  • Fixture & Tool Improvement: Identify floor-level tooling issues and propose improvement ideas to the Manufacturing Engineer, who owns specification and purchasing decisions.
  • Operator Training & Data Frameworks: Develop training content and visual aids. Design the data collection systems and templates the Technician executes; outputs feed capacity plans and dashboards.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent.
  • Minimum 2 years in process engineering.
  • Hands-on experience with time studies, work measurement, standardized work documentation, and root cause analysis (5 Why, Fishbone, 8D).
  • Practical Lean manufacturing and kaizen methodology experience. Strong floor presence.
  • Proficient in developing process sheets, visual documentation, and assembly line layouts.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems, AutoCAD, and advanced Excel (macros, tracking tools).
  • Experience with UL standards (UL508A, UL67, UL891) is highly preferred.

WHY MOONSHOT?

  • High-Growth Environment: Be part of a rapidly scaling company delivering power infrastructure for AI and data center applications, with meaningful technical challenges and real ownership.
  • Practical Engineering Focus: Work on real-world power distribution equipment where sound engineering judgment, compliance, and manufacturability matter.
  • Collaborative Team: Join a hands-on engineering organization that values clear communication, technical details, and getting designs right.
