Scope of work

Responsible for inspecting, disinfecting, assembling, processing and distributing patient care instruments, equipment and supplies in accordance with established policies, procedures and Association of Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI) standards. Acts as a role model and resource to peers and other members of the health care team related to processing of equipment, instruments, and supplies. Stores, rotates and ensures all instruments and supplies are correctly labeled.

🛠 Instrument Processing & Sterilization

  • Cleans and inspects soiled instruments using proper PPE.
  • Tests equipment with tools like insulation and leak testers to ensure sterilization.
  • Assembles instruments per established standards and IFUs.

Quality & Accuracy

  • Strives for zero defects through thorough inspections.
  • Maintains a low error rate and high productivity.

  • Serves as a role model and resource for peers.
  • Responds to phone requests and departmental issues professionally.

📦 Workflow & Prioritization

  • Prioritizes processing based on surgical schedules and physician needs.
  • Handles vendor trays and complex instrumentation efficiently.

  • High School Diploma or equivalent Required
  • Successful completion of sterile processing program (internal or external) Required
  • Certified Sterile Processing Distribution Tech (CSPDT) - CBSPD - Certification Board for Sterile Processing & Distribution within 1 year Required Or
  • Registered Central Services Technician, Certified (CRCST) - IAHCSMM - International Association of Healthcare Central Service Material Management within 1 year Required
