Job Description
AbbVie is seeking a Senior EHS Specialist to support Operations and Process Development labs at our Worcester site. In this site-based role, you will lead the site's occupational/ industrial hygiene program and provide technical EHS support for laboratory safety. The ideal candidate will have strong lab and chemical safety experience, along with a background in industrial hygiene.
Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement EHS programs, training, and policies to reduce incidents and ensure compliance with regulations and company standards.
  • Conduct qualitative and quantitative occupational hygiene risk assessments and exposure monitoring.
  • Develop sampling strategies, technical reports, and recommendations to reduce risk.
  • Perform ergonomic assessments and process design risk reviews and provide recommendations to reduce risk.
  • Develop and deliver occupational hygiene and ergonomics training.
  • Ensure compliance with legal, ethical, and company EHS requirements.
  • Lead incident investigations, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
  • Participate in process safety reviews and risk assessments for lab and process safety risks.
  • Support and implement EHS improvement projects.
  • Maintain current knowledge of relevant policies, regulations, and industrial processes.
  • Identify and promote process improvements that strengthen EHS performance and reduce risk.
  • Communicate compliance status, KPIs, trends, and key issues to stakeholders.
  • Lead or support cross-functional teams to achieve EHS objectives.
  • Monitor regulatory changes, assess impact, and implement required updates to ensure compliance.

Qualifications
  • Degree in Chemical Engineering, and 3-5 years related industry experience
  • Demonstrated experience in process safety and process safety management systems is required.
  • Training or experience with PHA an advantage
  • Working experience as a process/project projects in a chemical or pharmaceutical setting is preferred.
  • Experience working within a regulatory environment is required.
  • Positive track record of establishing and maintaining effective relationships with internal, external clients and customers.
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully negotiate with peers, and customers, is required.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to influence, motivate and empathize with peers, supervisors, middle management and vendors to meet the set goals.Personal skills to facilitate the work in cross functional team environment.
  • Sound judgement and problem-solving skills, communication skills including English, excellent interpersonal and consulting skills, good organizational and computer skills, and positive customer orientation.
