Job Summary

Ultimately, the Global Safety Manager is responsible for the reduction of accidents and incidents (including fires) within the business unit by creating and sustaining an interdependent safety culture where employees at all levels take pride in ownership and accountability for results.

The purpose of the Global Safety Manager is to support the Global Safety Director in the development and deployment of SHE strategy for Alkegen and work with the Business Unit Operations Director and Plant Managers in the deployment of their responsibilities in relation to the strategy.

The Global Safety Manager will be a proven completer finisher and self-starter capable of leading direct and indirect reports, influencing behaviours and delivering results.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Tobe the subject matter expert for all Safety, Health and Environmental matters and take theprominent role in leading the SHEagenda within their specificBusiness Unit.

  • Development and delivery / management of a risk based Internal SHE Audit/ReviewProgramand associated corrective action plans

  • Liaise with the GlobalSafety Director, Business Unit Operations Directors, Plant and SHE Managersto identify common gaps in theSHEmanagement system as identified by the Internal Audit, develop and deploysolutions that address the gaps in totality on a global basis.

  • Support the Global SHE Director & BU Operations Leaderswhen developing SHE strategy for the business.

  • Ensure that all Alkegenstandard Safe Systems of Workare fully deployed and adhered to at all times. e.g. PTW, Risk Assessment, Lock Out Tag Out etc.

  • Support and work closely with theOperations Directors, Plant andSHE Managers in relation to planning, reviewing and achieving SHE objectives and targets as well as promote continuous improvement and development throughout.

  • Ensure full rootcause analysis (RCA) is completedusing appropriate investigation techniques on all first aid,recordable and lost time accidents and fires. Following RCA, share learnings with all other Alkegensites globally and ensure corrective and preventive actions are completed appropriately.

  • Ensure effective management (extraction of learning and delivery of actions) of the Learning from Incidents (LFI) Trackers for each plant within your remit.

  • Ensure that all Plants within theBusiness Unitmeet, maintains & develop emergency response procedures with drills and desktop exercises that meet corporate and national emergency response standards.

  • Support Plant & SHE Managers when they are required to liaise with regulatory authorities or other bodies to ensure legal compliance.

Required Qualifications/ Experience:

  • Internationally recognised qualification in Occupational Health and Safety.

  • Prior exposure to ISO14001 & ISO 18001 / 45001 environmental & occupational standards

  • Demonstrate knowledge ofOSHA/UK/EUsafety legislation

  • Demonstrate experience of working with formal Management of Change systems (MOC) to reduce safety and operational risks.

  • Demonstrateexperience in Process Safety Management techniques such as HAZOP is an advantage for the role.

  • Demonstrate experience in application of behavioural safety management systems in order to drive an interdependent culture within a workforce.

  • Excellent people, communication, team building and organisational skills essential.

  • Proficient in Adaptive Coaching skills of listening, asking and responding.

Salary: USD $135,000-$165,000 per year

Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
