This position can be filled as an Engineer I, II, or III, depending upon the candidate’s qualifications.

Job Summary

Responsible for meeting with customers to determine electric needs and requirements. Performs a wide variety of planning, maintenance, and design engineering activities related to routine, non-routine, and emergency restoration duties. Project areas may include grid/system design, operations and maintenance, planning, asset management, reliability, computer applications, safety, and root cause failure analysis.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide technical guidance to the Distribution Designers and local area line groups.
  • Provide project management for all large projects including highway relocations, governmental projects, planned improvement and reliability projects.
  • Review and recommend for approval electrical designs that meet customer needs, comply with company standards, and enhance the overall system performance and reliability.
  • Participate in meetings with external customers, architects, developers, contractors, and government entities to communicate standards and guidelines.
  • Perform engineering calculations to aid in planning and corrective measure projects.
  • Assist with storm restoration efforts both local and out of town.
Minimum Education
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering Discipline (Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, Chemical, Industrial) from a four-year accredited institution.
  • Degrees in engineering technology (Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, Chemical, Industrial) from a four-year accredited institution with PE may be considered.
Preferred Education
  • Electrical or Mechanical Engineering Degree
Minimum Experience
  • Engineer I – 0 to 2 years experience in an engineering discipline.
  • Engineer II – 2+ years experience in an engineering discipline.
  • Engineer III – 4+ years experience in an engineering discipline.
Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Technical mastery of engineering principles.
  • In-depth knowledge of procedures, programs, and standards in responsible area.
  • Consistently drives for value in sound engineering decisions.
  • Mentors other engineers and technical professionals.
  • Good leadership, interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent math, project management, and computer software skills.
  • Familiar with National Electrical Safety Codes and National Electrical Code.
  • Ability to manage multiple activities and changing priorities, work well under pressure and follow all Entergy safety policies.
  • Ability to recognize hazards, provide mitigation, and deliver high level customer service.
  • Demonstrated acceptance of a diverse and inclusive work environment.
  • Ability to recognize opportunities for process improvement and enact change.
