We are seeking a highly skilled Solar Quality Engineer (QE) to serve as the technical guardian of our solar and energy storage portfolio. Operating at the critical intersection of engineering design and field execution, we will rely on this pivotal role to ensure that every megawatt built translates into a safe, high-performing, and durable long-term revenue stream.


The ideal candidate will bring a strong blend of technical authority, structural and electrical excellence, and a passion for a "boots-on-the-ground" field environment.


You will be responsible for owning the QA/QC framework across active construction sites, executing rigorous field audits, enforcing strict National Electrical Code (NEC) compliance, overseeing system commissioning protocols, and managing the Non-Conformance Report (NCR) lifecycle. By asserting strong technical oversight with third-party EPC contractors, the Solar Quality Engineer will maximize both the operational reliability and financial performance of our asset fleet.


PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Own and manage internal Quality Assurance Plan

  • Review and comment on EPC provided Quality Control Plan in accordance with contract documents.

  • Leverage PMIS (or other Construction Management software) for inspections and quality checks.

  • Manage all key field quality checks with all internal and external stakeholders (BMPs, Golden Row, MC, Energization, SC, etc.)

  • Own and manage all third-party site quality inspections.

  • Facilitate any Independent Engineer site quality inspections

  • Define controls and approval process for “Authorization to Energize” with EPC contractor

  • Conduct periodic site visits to job sites to review electrical and mechanical installation methods are performed in accordance with internal Quality Assurance Plan.

  • Monitor tests completed by contractors to ensure their means and methods meet the testing requirements per the EPCA, NEC, and IE specifications

  • Own, manage and review all testing requirements from utilities, local/state AHJ, or owner (witness, performance, commissioning, energization, etc.)

  • Own all performance standards and review of EPC produced capacity test

  • Oversee the installation and commissioning of solar systems by turn-key EPC, ensuring adherence to safety, health and environmental standards


EXPERIENCE

  • 5+ years Solar-Specific QA/QC Experience who has worked directly for an owner-developer, Independent Engineer (IE) firm, or a tier-1 EPC contractor.

  • Demonstrated experience achieving positive renewable energy project construction results;

  • Deep understanding of the solar industry;

  • Familiarity with utility interconnection processes and testing requirements;

  • NABCEP or other Certifications.

  • OSHA 30 (strongly preferred).

  • Preferred drone operating experience.


KEY SKILLS & COMPETENCIES

  • Strong understanding of solar photovoltaic systems and installation practices;

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills;

  • Ability to read and comprehend plans, drawings, specifications, bid materials, contracts and related construction documents.

  • Ability to be self-motivated and work in a team environment where the focus is on the goals and objectives that determine the success of the projects;

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong attention to detail;

  • Ability to exercise judgment to appropriately balance risks with business objectives;
