Ciena is advancing high-speed optical networking through innovative signal processing technologies, enabling next-generation connectivity and network performance. This internship role contributes to the design and development of high-speed optical modem solutions within a collaborative engineering environment. The position provides exposure to real-world product development and advanced optical communication systems.
How you will make an impact:
  • Design simulation models for high-speed optical modem systems
  • Execute simulations and document technical results
  • Develop signal processing functions using Matlab and C++ models
  • Analyze system performance and identify opportunities for optimization
  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to review designs
  • Contribute design feedback and propose improvements to development processes
  • Apply digital signal processing methods to solve complex communication challenges

The must haves:
  • Education: Master's degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering OR Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering
  • Working toward a Master's or post-graduate degree with a focus on digital signal processing
  • Application of engineering mathematics including linear algebra, FFT/IFFT, Laplace transform, Z-transform, signal analysis, probability, and statistics
  • Programming using Matlab, Python, and C or C++
  • Application of debugging and problem-solving techniques in engineering contexts
  • Ability to operate both independently and within multidisciplinary teams
  • Communication of technical concepts across varied audiences

Nice to haves:
  • Knowledge of optical system components including DAC/ADC, amplifiers, IIR/FIR filters, equalizers, feedback loops, lasers, modulators, optical hybrids, and fiber systems

Pay Range: The pay range for this position is $27.00-43.00/hour
