The company designs, engineers, and installs custom luxury interiors and advanced aircraft systems for airliner-derivative business jets. Role Description
Under close supervision, the Upholstery Technician Trainee learns the fundamental techniques required to fabricate and install high-quality aircraft upholstery components including seat covers, cushions, panels, trim pieces, and carpeting for VIP aircraft completion projects. This position develops the foundational skills required for aircraft upholstery work including sewing, foam preparation, material handling, and interpreting engineering documentation while ensuring compliance with company procedures and quality standards.
Essential Job Functions
  • Prepare upholstered surfaces for foam and covering using various hand tools in accordance with approved company procedures. Clean adhesive residue from panels and remove materials from parts as required.

  • Learn to perform basic sewing operations and minor modifications to seat covers, curtains, and other upholstery components using sewing machines, glue guns, and hand tools.

  • Within 90 days, demonstrate the ability to interpret material specifications and engineering drawings to ensure upholstered components meet design specifications, quality standards, and customer expectations.

  • Assist with preparation, layout, and handling of upholstery materials to support production workflow.

  • Learn to identify and request materials and supplies in a timely manner to ensure continuous workflow.

  • Within 90 days, demonstrate the ability to properly complete regulatory documentation and sign-offs in accordance with the Comlux Repair Station Quality Manual (RSQM) and other applicable quality standards.

  • Follow all departmental safety guidelines and ensure proper use of tools, equipment, and personal protective equipment.

  • Develop a basic working knowledge of company installation procedures, process specifications, and Internal Operating Procedures (IOPs).

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications, Education and Experience
  • High School Diploma or GED required. Relevant trade school or vocational training is a plus.

  • Basic understanding of upholstery processes, preferably within a manufacturing or aviation environment.

  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.

  • Ability to read and interpret basic blueprints and engineering documentation

Required Skills and Abilities
  • Basic knowledge of and willingness to learn all aspects of aircraft upholstery fabrication and installation.

  • Willingness to learn RSQM procedures and FAA regulatory requirements related to aircraft interior work.

  • Basic computer skills and familiarity with software systems utilized by Comlux.

  • Interest in learning Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement practices.

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately.

  • Ability to communicate in a professional, respectful, and cooperative manner with team members and supervisors.

Work Environment
This position is based in an aircraft hangar environment and may involve:
  • Exposure to varying temperatures and weather conditions

  • Loud noise levels
