Job description

Emerald Technologies has an exciting opportunity for seven Conformal Coat Operator I's to join its Brea, CA team! The Conformal Coat Operator I plays an important role in protecting and finishing printed circuit boards (PCBs) and electronic assemblies by applying specialized protective coatings. This entry‑level position is ideal for individuals looking to build hands‑on experience in electronics manufacturing, focusing on learning core coating processes, operating equipment safely, and maintaining strict quality and process standards under guided supervision.

Responsibilities of the Conformal Coat Operator I:

  • Prepare PCBs and electronic assemblies for coating by performing masking, cleaning, and fixture setup with precision.
  • Operate manual spray, dip, and basic automated coating equipment under established procedures and direction.
  • Support material preparation by mixing and handling conformal coating products according to documented instructions.
  • Conduct detailed visual inspections under UV lighting to verify coating coverage and identify defects.
  • Maintain clear, accurate production logs, quality records, and process documentation.
  • Adhere to all safety, ESD, and chemical‑handling protocols to ensure a controlled and compliant work environment.
  • Communicate defects, process deviations, or equipment issues promptly to the supervisor for resolution.

Qualifications of the Conformal Coat Operator I:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 0–1 year of experience in electronics manufacturing or a similar production environment preferred.
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow detailed work instructions and process documentation.
  • Strong attention to detail with steady manual dexterity for handling small components.
  • Basic computer literacy and accurate data‑entry skills.
  • Willingness to learn and adhere to established manufacturing standards and industry guidelines, including IPC‑A‑610 and J‑STD‑001.

Schedule & Budgeted Hours
Second Shift (2 Shifts Total)
Shift Hours: Monday–Friday, 2:30 PM – 11:00 PM
Paid Hours Per Day: 8 hours (includes one 30‑minute unpaid meal break).
Overtime: May be required based on production needs and will be compensated in accordance with California labor law
Breaks
Meal Break: One 30‑minute unpaid meal break, typically scheduled between 6:30 PM – 7:00 PM.
Rest Breaks: Two paid 10‑minute rest breaks per shift, in compliance with California labor law.
Budgeted Hours
Budgeted Weekly Hours: 40 hours (5 shifts × 8 hours).
Overtime: May be required based on production needs and will be compensated in accordance with California labor law.
