Freight Forwarding Process Analyst / Transformation Consultant / Remote with 25-40% U.S. Travel

Our client is a global logistics and transportation organization looking to hire a Freight Forwarding Process Analyst on a 4-month consulting/project-based engagement.

This is an opportunity to support a transformation initiative focused on understanding and improving freight forwarding operations. The ideal candidate will combine freight forwarding knowledge, process mapping and Value Stream Mapping (VSM) experience, and strong workshop facilitation skills. You will work independently with diverse stakeholders to document current-state processes, identify improvement opportunities, and help develop practical future-state solutions.

Contract Duration: 4 Months

Location: Remote with 25-40% travel throughout the U.S.

Required Skills & Experience
  • 8+ years of experience in process improvement, business analysis, operations, or consulting.
  • Direct experience and working knowledge of freight forwarding operations.
  • Hands-on experience with process mapping and Value Stream Mapping (VSM).
  • Experience leading process discovery and cross-functional workshops.
  • Ability to work independently and engage effectively with diverse stakeholder groups.
  • Working knowledge of freight forwarding processes, including quote-to-book, documentation, customs, ocean/air operations, and billing.
  • Experience creating process maps, swimlane diagrams, SIPOCs, or similar process documentation.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency with Excel and process documentation tools such as Visio, Lucidchart, Miro, or similar.
  • Ability to travel approximately 25-40% throughout the U.S.

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Logistics, Operations Management, or a related field.
  • Lean Six Sigma certification, preferably Green Belt or higher.

  • Develop standardized process maps, SIPOCs, and supporting documentation.
  • Validate process findings with operational stakeholders.
  • Translate workshop findings into prioritized improvement recommendations.
  • Support future-state process design and transformation initiatives.
  • Develop dashboards or scorecards to track improvement opportunities and progress.
  • Build relationships with operations, commercial, IT, and finance stakeholders.
  • Travel approximately 25-40% throughout the U.S. as required.
