Job description

United States Steel Corporation is seeking an EAF Melter for its Fairfield Tubular Steel Operations. The Melter performs all operations necessary to melt scrap metal and additives to produce molten steel to customer specifications in an electric arc furnace.  This role ensures safe, efficient, and high-quality production by monitoring furnace parameters, performing routine maintenance, and collaborating with production teams.
Responsibilities:

  • Adhere to all safety protocols and promote a safe working environment.
  • Operate electric arc furnace following prescribed methods, procedures and sequences of operation to production specifications.
  • Monitor furnace operations including temperature, power levels, and material input.
  • Adjust controls to maintain optimal performance and product quality.
  • Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance on furnace equipment.
  • Troubleshoot operational issues and coordinate repairs as needed.
  • Maintain accurate records of production data, including material usage and efficiency metrics.
  • Assist in training new operators and participate in continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements:

  • High School diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years Melting/EAF steelmaking experience
