Job description

This role supports and strengthens the Quality Management System (QMS), leads structured root cause investigations, monitors and analyzes key quality performance metrics, and drives corrective and preventive actions.

The Quality Engineer partners closely with Operations, Engineering, Supply Chain, and customers to improve process capability, reduce nonconformances, and promote a culture of quality and operational excellence.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with ISO 9001:2015, API Q1, ASTM, and customer-specific standards.
  • Develop and maintain quality documentation including procedures, work instructions, inspection plans, and forms.
  • Conduct Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA/DFMEA), Measurement System Analysis (MSA), and Process Capability Studies.
  • Manage calibration and gauge R&R programs for monitoring and measuring equipment.
  • Lead internal audits, process audits, and support third-party or customer audits.
  • Analyze quality data, perform trend analysis on NCRs and CPARs, and report on metrics such as scrap, rework, and customer escapes.
  • Investigate product and process nonconformities, issue corrective and preventive actions, and validate effectiveness.
  • Develop inspection methods for receiving, in-process, and final product checks.
  • Support training initiatives, maintain training records, and uphold training matrix accuracy.
  • Participate in Management of Change (MOC) and Risk Assessment activities.
  • Collaborate with operations, engineering, and suppliers for continuous improvement and cost reduction.
  • Assist with annual Management Reviews and strategic quality planning.
  • Other duties as assigned

Job Requirements

  • Up to 10% domestic travel may be required for audits, inspections, or training.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs and be physically present in manufacturing areas for extended periods.
  • Strong understanding of QMS principles, ISO 9001:2015, and API Q1 standards.
  • Proficiency in Statistical Process Control (SPC), Statistical Quality Control (SQC), and quality tools.
  • Ability to interpret complex technical drawings and specifications with tight tolerances.
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and data analysis tools.
  • Knowledge of inspection techniques and process control strategies.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in Quality Engineering is strongly preferred
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing environment is required; Previous experience with Fiberglass is highly preferred.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience with quality management systems.
  • Previous experience with ISO 9001:2015, and/ or API Q1 standards is highly preferred
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office: Teams, Excel, Word, etc. is strongly preferred 
  • ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) preferred.
