Position Description:

We are looking for a Process Engineer to join our Water Team to improve infrastructure in our Florida offices. The candidate must be a licensed PE with a bachelor's degree in civil or environmental engineering and five to ten years of related experience. The candidate should have experience working with process engineering knowledge and application to water and wastewater treatment facilities. The candidate must also be self-motivated, work well with others, and have excellent writing, organizational, and communication skills. A flexible hybrid-remote work schedule is available after 30 days of employment.
Typical responsibilities include:
  • Provide technical planning, biological process and mechanical design and construction support on various water and wastewater treatment and resource recovery projects. projects that may include combined sewer overflow, collection system, pump station, stormwater, hydrologic and hydraulic models and/or other water and wastewater projects
  • Prepare engineering calculations, run process models (i.e. Excel spreadsheet, Biowin, GPS-X, etc.) and support analysis of alternatives. Utilize effective technical writing skills to prepare technical memoranda to document alternative analyses, basis of design, business case evaluations, P&ID reports etc.
  • Prepare design reports and construction plans for treatment plants and pump stations using local and state standards
  • Prepare/assist with specifications and permit submittals
  • Assist with/review scope, budget, and schedule of new project tasks
  • Monitor task budget and progress
  • Document design changes and communications
  • Conduct on-site inspections and technical guidance for start-up as needed
  • Prepare project status and other reports
  • Assist in the preparation of proposals
  • Attend client, public, project and staff meetings including client progress, plan review, pre-construction, etc.
  • Possess strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Maintain excellent client relations
  • Maintain a safe working environment
  • Participate in the Florida Water Environment Association, or similar organization as a committee member.
  • Publish and present papers at state and national conferences. Serve as an active member in the Wade Trim Water and Wastewater Treatment Practice
Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering
Skills/Experience:
  • 5-10 years of related experience required
  • Licensed Professional Engineer required
  • Experience working with large-scale piping, valve, pumping systems, and treatment technologies
  • Demonstrated knowledge of water and wastewater treatment facilities is a plus
  • Experience developing detailed design plans for treatment projects is a plus
  • Expertise in more than one area of conventional activated sludge wastewater treatment liquid and solid processes including fundamentals of nitrification and denitrification systems, chemical or biological phosphorous removal, secondary and tertiary treatment including high rate disinfection systems, solids handling and biosolids treatment is a plus
  • Experience in assisting with sales efforts for large scale projects is a plus
  • Strong written and verbal skills
