Job description

ACCOUNTABILITY:

Responsible for the engineering ownership, creation and improvement of manufacturing process planning used by various groups such as production, overhaul, repair and inspection, to manufacture machined aerospace components, requiring the exercise of judgment and application of standard engineering principles and practices.

Pursue initiatives to improve quality and workflow while reducing costs.

Typical duties/responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Prepare detailed manufacturing plans for the production of aerospace components in accordance with customer drawings, parts lists and specifications. Create CAD models and apply standard GD&T principles to create dimensioned operation sheets using Siemens NX 3D modeling software.
  • Provide troubleshooting support for CNC machinists/operators, special processing technicians (heat treat, polishing/deburring, shot peening, plating), inspectors (dimensional inspection and non-destructive testing), Quality Engineers and Cell Leaders.
  • Participate in the investigation of technical problems for root cause determination, and the establishment of corrective actions and training instructions to avoid recurrences.
  • Review and analyze a variety of engineering/inspection data and reports to implement process improvements to improve efficiency and reduce scrap/rework.
  • Lead the technical manufacturing development of new product including process creation/development and customer support through first article delivery.
  • Design manufacturing/assembly fixtures/tools and special gaging.
  • Must work safely at all times, and actively participate in safety improvement initiatives by raising any safety concerns and helping to develop corrective actions.
  • May be assigned to carry out tasks, not specifically listed, within the scope and skill level of this job description in support of department or cell objectives and to develop individuals’ skills.

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering or related field. Alternatively, a special combination of education and experience and/or demonstrated accomplishments.
  • At least 2 years’ experience in manufacturing/process engineering role; aerospace preferred.
  • Previous experience with Frozen Planning and manufacturing flight critical components a plus.
  • Must be able to read, interpret, and apply GD&T methods.
  • Must be able to navigate through detailed customer specifications.
  • Experience with milling, turning, grinding; experience with Siemens NX CAD a plus (NX 7.5+)
  • Experience with NPI development and implementation.
  • Experience working with various metals including steel, aluminum, titanium, etc.
  • Strong verbal/written communication skills.
  • Strong project management skills.
