Northrop Grumman Defensive Systems has a need for a Systems Engineering Manager 1 on our Integrated Mission Solutions (IMS) team. In this role, you will be responsible for providing technical and people leadership within our Systems Engineering organization. Our ideal candidate will possess technical expertise, a drive to lead from where you are, collaborative people skills, and the proven ability to work within a technically diverse and fast-paced team. This position is in Warner Robins, GA and requires that you work on-site daily.

Roles and responsibilities will include:

  • Perform organizational overhead functions - support daytoday administrative and operational processes, hold one-on-one meetings with team members to discuss performance/goals, participate in compensation reviews, evaluate readiness for promotion of direct reports, and support hiring initiatives.

  • Work with Engineering Leadership, Peer Managers and Program Management to ensure programs are adequately and appropriately staffed, while setting priorities in a manner consistent with the program schedules.

  • Coach and develop staff by providing an environment that encourages ongoing professional growth. Ensure staff receives the appropriate training and skill development opportunities to be successful in their roles.

  • Provide guidance, direction, and performance feedback to a diverse cross functional group of engineers.

  • Champion and participate in engineering process improvement initiatives to ensure alignment of operations initiatives.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or Biomedical Engineering from an ABET accredited school with 5 years of relevant experience; Master's with 3 Years

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to lead a team with high levels of engagement, including mentoring and coaching.

  • Experience designing, integrating, troubleshooting and testing complex systems that include hardware and software.

  • Experience with legacy system sustainment and modernization, including hardware redesign due to obsolescence.

  • Experience with Department of Defense programs.

  • Must currently hold or be able to maintain a U.S Government Secret level security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Active Secret level (or higher) security clearance

  • Experience leading a project and/or team through the full program lifecycle, to include requirements analysis, design, trade studies, prototyping, fabrication, verification testing and sell off.

  • Experience formally managing personnel.

  • Experience with schematic development and circuit card design.

  • Experience with FPGA design (firmware development, testing and integration, component selection, etc.)

  • Experience with estimating tasking, including authoring and/or approving Basis of Estimates (BOEs) for Proposals.

Primary Level Salary Range: $114,900.00 - $172,300.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.The application period for the job is estimated to be 20 days from the job posting date.
