Job Description

POSITION PURPOSEThe primary purpose of this role is to support improvement of existing processes, design, install, configure and maintain manufacturing systems to reduce costs, improve equipment reliability, and develop best practices within the production process. The focus of the Process Engineer's work is on maintaining reliable and safe manufacturing systems, while improving quality, overall equipment effectiveness (OEE), production rates, efficiencies, yields, costs and changeovers. The Process Engineer is a part of the plant staff driven to identify, develop, and deliver innovative solutions that improve process capability and production volume while maintaining and improving safety and quality standards.

A reasonable estimate of the current range is $100,000-120,000 + performance based bonus + benefits. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. At Novolex, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES 1. Follow all safety policies, procedures, and practices. a. Must keep work area clean and safe. b. Understanding and daily practice of 5S. c. Communicate with all Operations and Maintenance personnel. 2. Follow all food safety and consumer safety policies, procedures, and practices. a. Participate in GMP and food safety training. b. Reports all food safety concerns with urgency. 3. Support production and maintenance in improving process reliability and performance. Key success factors include reducing equipment downtime and scrap, improving line performance and quality throughput, reducing changeover times, and improving the plant's overall approach to preventive and predictive maintenance. 4. Support and develop production and/or maintenance projects for the plant in Extrusion and Converting Departments. 5. Provide guidance to maintenance team on assigned tasks and projects. 6. Facilitate process/continuous improvement. Identify cost-savings and process improvement projects and move them from the concept to implementation. Drive continuous improvement by developing and implementing systems and process improvements that optimize all phases of the productions process; be actively involved in the development and implementation of long-term improvement plans.

7. Create and maintain process flow, PFMEA, Standard Operating Procedures and line capability and performance documentation. 8. Develop and maintain error proofing methodologies. 9. Support, cost, estimate and document all engineering changes. 10. Initiate actions to prevent the occurrence of any quality non-conformances related to product, process, and systems. 11. Provide technical inputs for incident investigation, root cause analysis and corrective action. Company policies, procedures, and practices are implemented via this position. Quality of products is directly related to the effectiveness of individuals in this job. A broad base of current technical knowledge is required to ensure that standards are met and efficiencies are maintained. Problem solving and decision-making abilities are essential for success. Performs additional responsibilities/job duties as assigned to support departmental and organizational objectives.

QUALIFICATIONS CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS: - Bachelor's Degree (Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related Technical Discipline).An equivalent combination of education and directly related work experience may be accepted in lieu of the required degree.

- 5-10+ years of relevant experience in manufacturing environment preferred. - 5+ years of Blown Film Extrusion experience highly preferred. - Strong mechanical, electrical and manufacturing process skills/experience. - Must have experience supporting and leading Lean manufacturing activities. - Analytical skills and understanding of problem-solving techniques/tools. - Data-driven, disciplined, objective and detail oriented. - Strong communication skills. Demonstrated ability to act as a business partner, "see the big picture," and work through ambiguity and change. - Advanced computer knowledge with MS Office applications (Excel, Access, etc.) and other computer tools and software. - Must be legally authorized to work in the United States. - Successful completion of pre-employment background and drug screen.
