About this opportunity:

Cenovus is seeking a Process Engineer to provide technical leadership for the South Complex Area Business Team, focusing on improving safety, reliability, and operational performance for our Lima refinery. This role partners closely with Operations to monitor unit health, optimize processes, and troubleshoot issues, while ensuring strong process safety through MOC, HAZOPs, and hazard analyses. The position also supports business objectives by collaborating with Commercial teams and leading capital and expense projects from feasibility through startup. As a key technical leader, this role drives risk-based decisions, supports emergency response through on-call rotation, and offers strong career growth opportunities through cross-functional collaboration and exposure to corporate experts.

What you'll do:

  • Deliver safe, reliable, and profitable operation of assigned process units through routine unit health monitoring, KPI stewardship, data analysis, and implementation of unit improvement initiatives, including routine performance reporting.

  • Lead unit optimization, constraint resolution, and operating envelope stewardship, coordinating with corporate technology subject matter experts to implement best practices and improve asset performance.

  • Provide daytoday process engineering support to Operations, troubleshooting unit issues, evaluating operating alternatives, and recommending optimal solutions to meet production, quality, and economic objectives.

  • Fulfill process safety accountabilities by supporting and participating in HAZOPs, Management of Change (MOC), hazard analyses, and incident investigations.

  • Support the development and execution of capital projects, and unit turnarounds, including early project scoping, technical input, startup support, and postimplementation verification.

Who you are:

  • Legally authorized to work in the US.

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering.

  • 2+ years of related experience supporting refinery or petrochemical operations as a process engineer.

  • Strong understanding of refinery unit operations, with preference for experience in hydroprocessing units (e.g., hydrotreating, hydroprocessing, utilities); broad, crossunit exposure preferred.
