Job description

Your responsibilities
Summary:
Process Engineers provide support for all phases of new capital projects to include capital project scope development, Process Flow Diagram's, equipment and instrumentation specifications, equipment sizing, instrument data and machine layout. Works with cross-functional teams (Product Engineering Quality, Manufacturing, I5.0) throughout the entire lifecycle of a product (from initial design through prototype development and into full production) to develop high quality and efficient manufacturing equipment and processes.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Effectively works with Product Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Finance, Purchasing and I5.0 through all aspects of project development and implementation of new capital projects in support of new product launches for area of responsibility from program kick-off through customer run-off. Meets project deadlines and budgetary constraints.
  • Develops process and quality specifications for new products through manufacturing trials to develop a product/process that is repeatable, exceeds manufacturing targets and meets the expectation of the application.
  • Develops manufacturing system layouts ensuring new production assembly processes support the production operator for ergonomics, optimize process flow and efficiency.
  • Develop all work instructions based on standard time data that supports production cycle times.
  • Supports and ensures we meet timing schedules to support new product launches.
  • Direct and coordinates equipment modification and installation Assists with vendor assessments, equipment evaluations and assessments of contractors and consulting engineers.
  • Interfaces with operations to provide technical support and recommendations on methods and improvements to eliminate challenges and issues.
  • Prepares data for and participates in technical reviews as required.
  • Participate in safety step reviews and appropriate value improving practices.
  • Spends time on the production floor collaborating with operators, supervisors and manufacturing engineers and technicians understanding daily production needs, including items such as plant trials, troubleshooting, waste initiatives, creating and maintaining SOP's and continuous improvement of standard production.
    • Consults with Product Engineering to determine optimum tooling and processes. Directs and coordinates with machine tool manufacturers to determine appropriate equipment and specifications.
    • Develops manufacturing processes including production flow, assembly methods and production equipment.
    • Develop and maintain standardized operating instructions.
    • Conducts time studies for manufacturing processes.
    • Direct and coordinates equipment modification and installation.
    • Takes a data driven problem solving approach including a root cause analysis skill level.
  • Ensures compliance and safety of all activities within the organization standards and policies.
  • Performs all other duties and responsibilities assigned.

Your profile
Qualifications & Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or other engineering discipline and applicable experience.
  • Possesses and demonstrates a mindset for safety for themselves and those around them.
  • Proven experience in a process, project engineering and/or production capacity with hands-on experience implementing full-function, complex control systems and applications on automated assembly processes. Strong project management skills with proven ability to plan, monitor, and control a project from start to finish ensuring everyone meets their deadlines.
  • Must have a demonstrated commitment to manufacturing safety and performance.
  • Is curious, a quick learner and driven to fill gaps in working knowledge. Is motivated by working in an environment that changes rapidly.
  • Demonstrated creativity in solving problems, especially simple, effective, long-lived solutions.
  • Proven record of accomplishments working with teams - both leading and as a member.
  • Good communication and influencing skills. Effective advocate of ideas. Listens well. Engage in challenging discussions confidently and responsibly.
  • Ability to comprehend drawings and GD&T along with some awareness of CAD software. Solid understanding of Lean Principles (6S, Kaizen, Kanban, SMED).
  • Must be self-motivated, with a desire to continuously improve, learn and provide creative solutions
  • Experience with coordination and presentation of technical data and information to key component suppliers & customers.
  • Expert knowledge of Microsoft Office Products (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Highly organized with ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Exhibits integrity through fair and ethical behaviors in all activities; maintains accountability for performance.
  • Strong attention to detail with well-developed organizational and verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proven experience developing work processes to improve outcomes for the team/customers.
