About the Role

This is a 100% on-site position based in Buffalo, West Virginia โ€” a leading automotive powertrain manufacturer is seeking a hands-on Process Engineer to join its engine and transmission machining and assembly operations. Local candidates who can work on-site in the Buffalo, WV area are strongly preferred.

Working on-site at the Buffalo, West Virginia powertrain facility, you will develop operating process plans and lead the planning, procurement, installation, trial, and launch of machining and assembly lines โ€” owning schedule and budget, driving cross-functional working groups, and using AutoCAD and 3D CAD to read, interpret, and modify designs.

Responsibilities

  • Develop operating process plans to machine or assemble parts for an assigned area of the Powertrain department
  • Lead planning, procurement, installation, trial, and launch of engine/transmission machining or assembly lines
  • Create and maintain schedule and budget for the assigned area
  • Develop and improve standard tools and benchmarks
  • Lead and participate in cross-functional working groups across the local facility and corporate departments
  • Visualize activity plans and schedules to facilitate quick consensus building and secure project priorities
  • Analyze critical manufacturing issues and clearly communicate root cause and countermeasure plans to stakeholders
  • Spend approximately 20% of time on the manufacturing floor

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Engineering (or college)
  • 3โ€“5 years of experience after college (not seeking senior 15โ€“20-year candidates, or CAD-only backgrounds)
  • Experience in process engineering, including schedule and budget management
  • Some project management exposure
  • Prior machining or assembly experience
  • AutoCAD experience โ€” ability to read, interpret, and modify
  • 3D CAD experience โ€” ability to read and interpret
  • Willingness to work required overtime (generally 45โ€“50 hours/week), including weekends and shutdown periods (e.g., July and December holidays)
  • Flexibility for business travel, both domestic and international, up to 20%
