Job purpose

To provide direct support to the Regional Sales Managers in the ongoing development of existing and prospective SSAB customers to ensure that the department is able to meet its growth targets in accordance with applicable laws and per company Policy.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Build rapport with current & new customers, providing product advice & technical support, preparing quotations and sales orders
  • Closes accounts by answering telephone, fax, and e-mail inquiries; verifying and entering information into the SSAB databases
  • Maintains and improves quality results by following company standards, recommending improved processes, communicating, troubleshooting and tracking problems
  • Develop quotations in accordance with Company Policy and based on identified sales strategy and information collected from customer or partners as assigned
  • Accomplishes department and organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests, exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments, and working within Company Policy
  • Suggest related and new items (value added & complimentary products), explaining technical features, and complies with the Company’s Ethical Policy
  • Remains knowledgeable and up-to-date on changes, new products and developments in SSAB and the industries in which we support
  • Works closely with Operations, CAD, Shipping, Sales (outside), Finance and Management; to include effective communication of all customer updates & forecasting, strategy, and timely preparation of weekly/monthly reports
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
  • Source new sales opportunities through inbound lead follow-up and emails

Qualifications

Required Education & Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 2 - 4+ years of experience performing sales (inside or outside)
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers, extremely organized
  • Excellent computer proficiency (MS Office – Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
  • Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices
  • Strong attention to details, analytical skills, exceptional judgment, dependable, excellent teamwork skills, good time management skills, creative, problem-solving, hardworking & persistent, professional competence, proactive
