Job Purpose

Aslan Technologies has a /Process/ Applications Engineer opportunity for engineers/technologists to join our team in Burlington, Ontario. The /Process/applications Engineer would be responsible for designing, planning, and implementing projects related to water and wastewater treatment and chemical dosing systems. They work in collaboration with Project Managers and would be part of a team of engineers and technicians to ensure the efficient and effective operation of water and wastewater treatment facilities. This role requires technical expertise in engineering principles, environmental regulations, and multidiscipline engineering and coordination.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop quotes, proposals, cost estimations, technical specifications, vendor, and contractor prequalification, procurement/tender support,
  • Be the main technical/process leader to support the Project Manager during Project execution.
  • Design and develop water/wastewater treatment and chemical dosing systems, including the selection and sizing of equipment, calculations, and hydraulic modelling.
  • Develop process schematics, PFDs, and P&IDs to ensure proper functionality and alignment with project requirements.
  • Collaborate with clients, regulatory agencies, and other stakeholders to ensure compliance with environmental regulations and permit requirements.
  • Research and stay updated on emerging trends, technologies, and best practices in water and wastewater engineering.
  • Develop and maintain project documentation, including reports, drawings, and specifications.
  • Analyze different water/wastewater chemistries to propose the best possible water treatment solution for the existing scenario.
  • Design processes for sequencing batch reactors (SBRs), UF, RO, NF, and membrane bioreactors (MBRs).
  • Write design briefs, control narratives and user operation and maintenance manuals for water and wastewater treatment plants.
  • Develop and perform quality control and commission checklists and procedures

Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil, Environmental, or Chemical Engineering with a minimum of 2-3 years of experience in water and wastewater engineering field (or related engineering diploma with more experience)
  • Strong knowledge of water and wastewater treatment processes, including physical, chemical, and biological treatment methods.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and resolve complex engineering issues.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and engage with clients and stakeholders’
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in design calculations, cost estimates, and technical documentation.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to maintain project documentation and records systematically.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and professional development in the field of water and wastewater engineering.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Commitment to health and safety practices in the workplace.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of MS Office applications – Word, Access, and Excel.
  • “G” Driver’s license.
