Job description

Crusoe is on a mission to accelerate the abundance of energy and intelligence. As the only vertically integrated AI infrastructure company built from the ground up, we own and operate each layer of the stack — from electrons to tokens — to power the world's most ambitious AI workloads. When you join Crusoe, you join a team that is building the future, faster.

We're in the midst of the greatest industrial revolution of our time. The demand for AI compute is boundless, and power is a bottleneck. We're solving that — with an energy-first approach that makes AI infrastructure better for the world and faster for the people innovating with AI.

We're looking for problem-solving, opportunity-finding teammates with a sense of urgency, who believe in the scale of our ambition and thrive on a path not fully paved — people who want to grow their careers alongside a team of experts across energy, manufacturing, data center construction, and cloud services.

If you want to do the most meaningful work of your career, help our customers and partners advance their AI strategies, and be part of a high-performing team that believes in each other, come build with us at Crusoe.

About This Role

Join Crusoe Energy as a Manufacturing Engineering Manager and lead the team responsible for how our products are built. In this critical leadership role, you will oversee the manufacturing engineering department, driving the strategic optimization of our production facilities and processes for modular integrated electronics buildings and power distribution equipment.

You will be the operational counterpart to the mechanical and electrical engineering managers, ensuring that everything from complex switchgear to factory-built modular data centers is designed for manufacturability (DFMA) and transitions smoothly into high-volume production. The ideal candidate is a seasoned leader with a deep background in Lean and/or Six Sigma manufacturing, facility optimization, and team development in a fast-paced environment.

What You’ll Be Working On
  • Team Leadership & Strategy: Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of manufacturing engineers. Oversee resource allocation across multiple production lines and NPI (New Product Introduction) projects to ensure production goals are met.

  • Production Strategy & Plant Optimization: Direct strategic initiatives to optimize plant layout, balance assembly lines, and maximize overall facility throughput.

  • CapEx & Equipment Strategy: Oversee project budgets and provide strategic direction on the procurement, installation, and commissioning of advanced manufacturing machinery and tooling.

  • Continuous Improvement: Champion a facility-wide Lean manufacturing culture (Value Stream Mapping, 5S, Kaizen); implement improvements to production methodologies to enhance safety, quality, and efficiency.

  • DFMA & Design for Excellence (DFx): Lead Design for Manufacturability and Assembly reviews with design engineering, focusing on cost reduction strategies and assembly simplification.

  • NPI Leadership: Own the manufacturing side of the NPI process, ensuring a seamless handover of production-ready 3D models from the design team to the factory floor.

  • Engineering Change Management: Oversee the implementation of Engineering Change Orders (ECOs), analyzing impacts on inventory, tooling, and labor to ensure smooth transitions.

What You’ll Bring to the Team
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering.

  • Industry Experience: 7–10+ years of progressive experience in manufacturing engineering within a heavy assembly, electromechanical, or engineered-to-order environment.

  • Leadership Mastery: 3+ years of direct experience in a supervisory or management role, with a proven track record of developing technical talent.

  • Technical Skills: Deep expertise in Lean manufacturing principles and proficiency with 2D/3D CAD software for reviewing plant layouts.

  • Fabrication Knowledge: Advanced knowledge of metals, materials, and fabrication methods (welding, mechanical assembly, busbar forming) used in power distribution equipment.

  • Communication: Ability to effectively negotiate and influence stakeholders across Sales, R&D, and Operations.

  • Safety and Compliance: This position is designated a safety-sensitive position and/or is located in a safety-sensitive facility. Drug and alcohol program participation is required.

Bonus Points
  • Master’s degree in Engineering Management or Business Administration (MBA).

  • Six Sigma Black Belt certification.

  • Direct experience leading a greenfield manufacturing plant startup.

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license.
