Job description

Position Description & Qualifications
Looking for an internship opportunity at a place you can make an impact every day? Then Serco has a great opportunity for you!
As the Career Academy Associate, you will gain hands-on experience using engineering tools while being mentored and receive training with senior engineers and technicians from across the team to help prepare you for college.You will be available throughout the school year from September through May each year and will work with an Engineering Manager on the best schedule for you working no more than an average of 20 hours per week.
Serco is proud to work with the Bridge Academies of Pascagoula Gautier School District to offer a position as a Career Academy Associate. This program is designed to provide high school students with paid internship opportunities to gain meaningful, hands-on experience in a professional ship building environment with a focus on the engineering and technical communities.
In this role, you will:
  • Receive mentoring in using AutoCAD to update sketches
  • Enter data into spreadsheets for tracking discrepancies.
  • Assemble inspection packages by printing and copying drawings, specifications and other relevant data under the supervision of senior engineers.
  • Learn how to read drawings and change package documentation
  • Provide administrative support to engineering team

To be successful in this role, you will have:
  • US Citizenship
  • High School Diploma/GED or currently in the process of obtaining your High School Diploma/GED.
  • Good standing with the Bridge Academies of PGSD and Engineering entering your senior year.
  • Received teacher recommendation to be a participant.
  • Interest in pursuing engineering or other technical degree at the college level.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD program.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
