Common Search/ComparisonYesYes

Process Engineer Electrical focuses on electrical systems, power distribution, and control systems, often working in power, electronics, or automation industries. Process Engineer Mechanical specializes in mechanical systems, machinery, and manufacturing processes. Both roles require engineering degrees and certifications, but their work environments and industry applications differ. Understanding these distinctions helps candidates choose the right career path or job search focus.

Can you make $500,000 as an electrical engineer?

While some experienced electrical engineers in specialized industries or leadership roles can earn salaries approaching or exceeding $500,000 annually, such compensation is uncommon and typically requires extensive experience, advanced certifications, and working in high-paying sectors like energy or aerospace. Most electrical engineers earn between $70,000 and $120,000 per year, with higher earnings possible through managerial positions or consulting roles.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Process Engineer Electrical, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Process Engineer Electrical, you need a solid background in electrical engineering principles, process optimization, and a relevant engineering degree. Familiarity with CAD software, PLC programming, and standards like IEC or IEEE, as well as certifications such as a Professional Engineer (PE) license, are typically required. Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and effective communication skills help you collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and address complex technical challenges. These skills are crucial for ensuring efficient, safe, and reliable operation of electrical processes within industrial environments.

What engineers make $300,000 a year?

Senior engineers in specialized fields such as petroleum, aerospace, or software engineering can earn $300,000 or more annually, especially with extensive experience, advanced skills, and leadership roles. High-level process engineers in certain industries or with executive responsibilities may also reach this compensation level, often supplemented by bonuses and stock options.

How does a Process Engineer Electrical typically collaborate with cross-functional teams during a project?

As a Process Engineer Electrical, you'll frequently work alongside multidisciplinary teams that may include mechanical engineers, project managers, production staff, and safety specialists. Your role often involves translating process requirements into electrical system designs, coordinating with other engineering disciplines to ensure compatibility, and participating in review meetings to address technical challenges. Strong communication skills are essential, as you'll need to explain complex electrical concepts to non-specialists and gather input to optimize solutions. This collaborative approach not only streamlines project delivery but also provides valuable learning opportunities and exposure to different aspects of engineering.

What engineers make $500,000?

Senior engineers in specialized fields such as petroleum, aerospace, or software engineering can earn $500,000 or more annually, often through a combination of base salary, bonuses, and stock options. High-level roles typically require extensive experience, advanced skills, and sometimes professional certifications or advanced degrees.

Can I make 200k as an electrical engineer?

Process engineers with electrical expertise can potentially earn $200,000 or more annually, especially with extensive experience, advanced certifications, or leadership roles. Salaries vary by industry, location, and company size, with high-paying sectors including energy, aerospace, and manufacturing.

Our success is driven by advanced technology, strong customer partnerships, and most importantly, our people.

Join Photronics and be part of a collaborative, high-tech manufacturing environment where learning, engineering excellence, and continuous improvement are core to everything we do.

As the Process Engineer, Cleans, youโ€™ll be responsible for developing, optimizing, and sustaining photomask etch, clean and resist strip processes that support high-yield, high-quality mask manufacturing. This role drives process stability, defect reduction, and equipment performance across cleanroom operations, partnering closely with manufacturing, equipment engineering, quality, and adjacent process teams. The engineer uses structured problem solving, statistical analysis, and hands-on process ownership to improve yield, reliability, cycle time, and overall manufacturing performance.

Location: Boise, ID (US). This is an on-site position, and we are not open to remote candidates at this time.

Responsibilities

  • Own and optimize photomask cleans and resist strip processes in a cleanroom manufacturing environment.
  • Monitor process performance, analyze SPC trends, and implement corrective actions to maintain process stability.
  • Perform process characterization, troubleshooting, and root-cause analysis to improve yield, defectivity, and reliability.
  • Support qualification of new tools, materials, recipes, and process changes.
  • Develop and maintain process documentation, SOPs, control plans, and work instructions.
  • Partner with equipment engineers to improve tool uptime, process capability, PM strategy, and excursion response.
  • Collaborate with integration, inspection, metrology, pellicle, and manufacturing teams on cross-functional yield and quality issues.
  • Support technology transfers, scale-up activity, and new product/process introductions.
  • Ensure compliance with EHS, chemical handling, and cleanroom protocols.
  • Drive root cause analysis and resolution of etch-related issues, reducing defects, variability, and production interruptions.
  • Develop, optimize, and qualify etch processes using data-driven methodologies (DOE, SPC), ensuring stability and repeatability in production.
  • Train and support technicians and junior engineers as needed.

Qualifications:

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Hands-on experience with lithography process development and troubleshooting in a cleanroom or manufacturing environment.
  • Hands-on experience with cleans, dry and/or wet etch process, resist strip, lithography, or related semiconductor process modules.
