Description:

As part of Racemark’s Engineering team, the Manufacturing Engineer will lead production process optimization and establish standards. The primary focus of this role is to support work related to Racemark’s Tier 1 Automotive OEM customers. This role will drive process efficiency and cost savings through material utilization and waste reduction. In addition, process focused work, this role will support product development and change requests.

This position reports to the Director of Operations and works closely with Program Management, Maintenance, Outside Tooling Vendors, Manufacturing Management and Operators.

Main Objectives:

  1. Ensures that design and process changes are supported via approved Engineering Change Request (ECR) that captures costing impacts.
  2. Ensures that BOMs and process routings are accurate and reflect the correct costing, efficiency, and utilization.
  3. Maintains prioritized list of engineering initiatives/projects with weekly status tracking for review with Director of Operations.
  4. Reviews efficiency of labor, material, and equipment versus targets and recommends opportunities for improvements to Director of Operations.
  5. Establishes initial engineering requirements and documentation for the tooling, process flow documentation, etc. for new program launches.
  6. Develops test procedures to ensure product compliance with specifications (Design Validation Plan).
  7. Performs root cause analysis for quality issues or non-conformances related to production processes and implements corrective actions.
  8. Supports annual budget proposals for spare parts, maintenance items, technical project and machine needs and manages expenditures within the budget through the year.
  9. Assists with writing Work Instruction and Standard Operating Conditions for new processes/products.
  10. Works with Quality and Production personnel to identify sources of waste and scrap to effectively maintain cut-files that minimize scrap and potential for miscut during process.
  1. Supports scheduled trial run activities for new product launches and sample creation.
  2. Supports implementation of 5S initiatives as related to the shop floor.

Qualifications:

  • 5 years of manufacturing environment experience preferred.
  • Experience with lean manufacturing in a Tier 1 automotive environment. 
  • Familiar with automotive manufacturers’ certifications (IATF 16949, CCC, etc). 
  • Expertise with Autodesk AutoCAD, Inventor Software, Catia V5/6.
  • Knowledge of testing requirements for industry including Din and ASTM.
  • Ability to read, create and optimize technical drawings.
  • Experience with carpet or textile manufacturing and sewing processes.
  • Able to perform all aspects of setting up, troubleshooting, and operating the machines.
  • Experience with MS Office tools, automotive ERP systems (Plex), and Customer Portals.
  • Demonstration of exceptional organizational and problem-solving skills and able to determine alternative courses of actions.
  • Excellent oral and written English communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong independent decision-making skills, able to manage-up to prioritize tasks appropriately.
