Morskate Manufacturing is a family-run structural steel manufacturer located in Ponoka, Alberta. Specializing in structural, agricultural and custom orders, we take pride in the ability to be adaptable and flexible when designing and building orders to meet the customers exact requirements.

Position Summary

Morskate Manufacturing is expanding in a big way! We're adding 90,000+ sq. ft. to our facility and investing in exciting new technology as we continue to grow. With this expansion comes an exciting opportunity—we are currently seeking a dependable and hardworking Structural Junior Drafter
to join our growing team.

Reporting to the Drafting Supervisor, you will be responsible for creating accurate and detailed technical drawings for structural steel components including beams, columns, stairs, and handrails. Reporting to the Drafting Supervisor, this role supports the fabrication process by producing models, cut lists, and CNC files using drafting software. Responsibilities

  • Maintain excellent attendance record
  • Prepare detail drawings of part drawings, assembly drawings, etc.
  • Provide fabrication with cut lists and CNC data files for the fabrication process
  • Model small miscellaneous items
  • Prioritize, organize and maintain assigned projects to maintain set schedules. Any changes to projects or schedules should be communicated with our management team
  • Identify and assist in the facilitation of continual improvement processes in support of company goals
  • Create drawings for field installation
  • Import model information into ERP system

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Previous drafting experience an asset
  • Proficient in MS Office
  • Previous experience using Tekla and SolidWorks an asset
  • Excellent communication skills with attention to detail
  • Must have strong time management and organizational skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines
  • Able to work independently or as part of a team
  • Ability to speak, read, write and understand English clearly
