Position: Manufacturing Engineer (CNC Machining)

Location: Dayton, OH
Duration: 12+ months

Job Overview

We are seeking a Manufacturing Engineer with strong CNC machining experience to support manufacturing operations, process optimization, and new product introduction (NPI). The ideal candidate will have expertise in CAD/CAM programming, CNC process development, tooling, and continuous improvement while collaborating with Production, Quality, Sales, and Engineering teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, optimize, and maintain CAD/CAM programs and CNC machining processes.
  • Support CNC programming, machine setup, process validation, and troubleshooting.
  • Improve machining efficiency through toolpath optimization, cycle time reduction, and process improvements.
  • Support New Product Introduction (NPI) by translating product designs into manufacturable processes.
  • Create and maintain process routings, work instructions, setup documentation, and SOPs.
  • Design tooling and fixtures to improve productivity and quality.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, vendors, and customers to resolve manufacturing challenges.
  • Analyze production data and implement Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Support capital equipment installation, automation projects, and new technology implementation.
  • Mentor technicians and programmers on CNC machining best practices.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Associate degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline.
  • 3+ years of CNC machining experience with a Bachelor's degree or 6+ years with an Associate degree.
  • Hands-on experience with multi-axis milling, turning, Swiss machining, grinding, or EDM.
  • Strong knowledge of CAD/CAM software (Mastercam, Siemens NX, SolidWorks, or similar).
  • Experience with Fanuc controls, blueprint reading, and GD&T.
  • Knowledge of tooling, fixture design, and machining process optimization.
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
