Job description

The Sanmina Design Engineering Services organization is seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join our Value Engineering/Value Analysis (VAVE) team.
This group partners with diverse companies to review products, identify technical advantages, and implement improvements that increase business success. We are looking for a highly motivated individual eager to advance their career. The ideal candidate should be outgoing, possess strong customer communication skills, preferably have manufacturing experience, and be able to collaborate effectively with customers and the current team.
Key Responsibilities:
Design and Ideation: Act as a highly motivated, self-starter capable of quickly taking limited specifications and developing design concepts with product improvements focused on manufacturing, reliability, cost, and service.
CAD Modeling and Documentation: Quickly create CAD models (e.g., Solidworks) to demonstrate product improvements and generate professional technical documents and reports.
Engineering Leadership & Project Management:
Identify requirements and collaborate with engineering teams to develop detailed Engineering Design proposals.
Interpret complex business and technical aspects of large-scale programs (Hardware, PCB, software, mechanical, system packaging, thermal, regulatory, and product test development).
Manage project execution, customer relationships, and the design transition from engineering to production.
Lead Value Engineering analysis and project management initiatives.
VAVE Specialization: Demonstrate expertise in VAVE areas, including:
Plastic Injection Molding part design and mold flow analysis.
Die Cast part design.
Sheet metal fabrication, including rack components and Enclosure Cabinet System CAD design, mechanical layout, interconnect, DFx analysis, and production/quality efficiency.
Technical Sales Support & Partnership:
Provide technical sales support by presenting engineering capabilities, hosting engineering workshops for cost reduction, and researching product capabilities to educate business development managers.
Collaborate with sales teams and customers to define engineering opportunities that drive manufacturing sales.
Partner with manufacturing locations to identify process or product updates that increase quality and lower cost.
Education, Skills, and Experience:
BSME or MSME or similar education with a minimum of 5 years of design experience.
CAD/Analysis Expertise:
Proficient in 3D Solidworks CAD. Knowledge of Catia, CREO, NX, or Inventor is a plus.
Experience with Tolerance Analysis software.
Experience with Thermal Modeling and FEA is a plus.
Fixture, tool, and mold design experience.
DFx/VAVE Experience:
Previous experience with innovative, successful VAVE/DFx design executions is a plus.
Experience in Plastic Injection Molding, die casting, thermoforming, 3D printing, and precision machining is a plus.
Product Development:
Experience in end-to-end product development.
Familiarity with design for a diverse array of end-markets: medical, industrial, and communications.
Experience with developing and transferring processes, tooling, and test needs for new product introduction and manufacturing.
Soft Skills:
Exceptional problem-solving skills and approach.
Experience in sales engineering support.
Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective interaction with the team, customers, and vendors.
Fluent in English.
