The Design Intern is responsible for assisting in the preparation of plan submittals, maintaining document scanning and filing systems, performing administrative tasks, and learning to prepare fire sprinkler system design.

A subsidiary of Kiewit Corporation, Aero Automatic Sprinkler Company is one of the Southwest's largest and most-respected fire protection contractors. With its roots in Phoenix, AZ, Aero also operates through branch offices in California and Colorado. Aero offers complete services for all construction market types and any size project as well as complete testing and maintenance services.
Location
Aero Automatic Sprinkler Company's main office is located in Phoenix, as well as a branch in the southern California area to meet the needs of our California clients. While our primary focus of work includes Arizona, New Mexico, Utah, Texas, and Nevada, we are capable of traveling with our customers to projects across the country.
Responsibilities
• Assist in compiling and preparing plan submittals (shop drawings) and material submittals for review by architects, engineers, clients, and authorities having jurisdiction.
• Communicate with Sales, Estimating and other departments to optimize design efficiency for fabrication and installation of systems.
• Prepare and maintain spreadsheets, checklists, and training documents for Design and Project Management.
• Other job duties as assigned.
Qualifications
• Strong computer skills, with knowledge of spreadsheet and word processing software.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Able to work from verbal or written instructions.
• Able to read engineer/design, architectural, and structural blueprints.
• Fundamental understanding of general construction methods, practices, and terminology.
• High level of self-discipline, motivation, and ability to operate in a team environment.
• High school diploma or GED
• Preference will be given to candidates currently enrolled in a college curriculum program in Engineering or Construction Management.
• CAD familiarity is a plus.

Base Compensation: $18.00/hr - $22.00/hr
