Purpose
Monitors, controls, and improves Key Process/Performance Indicators (KPI) within Rain Carbon's calcination facilities.ย ย Identifies, develops, and implements cost effective process improvement projects to either improve quality, efficiency, and production or reduce waste. Works with operations personnel to optimize plant process economics while meeting environmental regulations and quality targets. Participate in and sometimes lead Root Cause Analysis efforts to eliminate process failures. Facilitate DCS and control system maintenance, recommend improvements with input and support from Automation and Controls Engineer. Supports all plant processes including calcination, combustion, heat recovery, high pressure steam generation, power generation, material storage & handling, emissions controls, and infrastructure.
Duties & Responsibilities
Review KPIs (quality, energy use, recovery) daily and work with operations to make corrections as needed to achieve targets. Analyze process data to determine areas of improvement.ย ย Interact with plant management, employees, vendors, and consultants. Provide routine updates to operational teams and other departments on issues or process improvements. Write reports documenting improvements to share with other Rain facilities.ย ย Actively participate in safety programs including safety walks. Manage process improvement projects including initiation, scope development, identification and management of vendors/contractors, implementation, and closure, including all documentation needed for changes.ย ย Develop strong working relationships with technical/engineering resources at other Rain locations including the central laboratory and share improvement initiatives and implement best practices developed at other locations. Time will be divided between the Gramercy and Norco, LA facilities, expectations are to split time evenly. Occasional travel will be required to other plant locations to help facilitate the above.ย 
Job Requirements
A universityย degree in Chemicalย or Mechanicalย engineeringย with 2-4 years of process engineeringย experience.ย Ability to understand,ย maintain, and improve technical aspects ofย all theย plant systems.ย Experience using statistical process control, Kaizen,ย or Six Sigma methodologies.ย ย Knowledge ofย DCSย systemsย andย SAP skillsย areย beneficial.ย ย ย
