Job description

Position: Senior Process Engineer

Location: Valley Green, PA

Amphenol High Speed Products Group is the market leader for high speed, high bandwidth electrical connectors for the Telecom/Datacom market (Mobile Networks, Storage, Servers, Routers, Switches, etc.). Our products help to enable the electronics revolution and remain a key enabler for all the major Tier 1 OEMs globally. Our global headquarters are located in Nashua, NH and we have design, sales and manufacturing locations globally. We are currently seeking a Process Engineer to join our HSIO Connector Engineering team. The position will be located in Valley Green, PA.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position manages all technical and process control aspects, develop plans, coordinates, tracks, qualifies and implements assembly processes from conceptual design into functional assemblies that meet Amphenol cost, delivery, and capacity needs while meeting all customers' requirements. Develop automated processes and monitor areas of continues improvement in quality, safety, cost, and efficiency including SMED, TPM (LEAN tools) and other tasks via a structured development process. Assist with costing, capital and capacity projections in preparation of financial justifications for new products in development and for product changes or extensions. Complete process development deliverables including PFMEA's, Process Qualification Plan, Control Plans, Workmanship standards and DOE's related to process development.

  • Development of tool and fixtures for cable assembly processes using 3D CAD (preferable Solidworks and/or Pro-Engineer)
  • Define process equipment, fixtures and tools for new cable assembly processes or process improvements
  • Provide product and investment cost assessments for new or modified products for the justification and acquisition of major tooling and equipment.
  • Write and develop machine / tooling specifications for processes and equipment to be purchased from outside sources.
  • Drive process risk reduction effort using design for manufacturability (DFM), list potential critical/risk product-process areas (FMEA) and verification testing
  • Define and drive process qualification (FAI, Cmk, Cpk) plans
  • Coordinate with internal & external vendors the fabrication of prototype samples, tooling and equipment to meet schedules
  • Involved in the analysis of defined risk areas and experimentation, detailed design and analysis, DOE, basic technology research and development.
  • Develop and document assembly processes, which include process sheets, operating procedures, spare parts lists, and preventative maintenance plan.
  • Provide training, guidance and support to production and specialized personnel as necessary
  • Participate in team meetings to inform progress on project and customer driven deliverables (such as samples or qualification reports).
  • Interface with vendor on new automated equipment development.
  • Work closely with operations in defining operations plans capacity plan, time study, takt time, line balance, flow diagram, line lay-out, work instructions, workmanship standards, control and inspection plans and other manufacturing documentation.
  • Work with manufacturing team to develop capacity and cost reduction plans for high volume efficiency, product cost reductions and capacity planning
  • Some travel both domestically and internationally may be required

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline preferably; Electro-mechanical, Mechanical or Industrial Engineering with at least five years of current experience in a process engineering role.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public in each region of the world.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
  • Should have knowledge and skills using:
  • 3D CAD Design software (preferably Solidworks and/or Pro-Engineer)
  • Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing
  • Internet software
  • Project Management software (Microsoft Project)
  • Spreadsheet software (Microsoft Excel)
  • Word Processing software (Microsoft Word)
