Description

The Quality Manager and Metallurgist is responsible for implementing and controlling all manufacturing quality systems to include employee training, analyzing, controlling and minimizing rejections, handling and following up on customer complaints, continuous improvement, and specifying processing parameters. Lead Quality department including Lab Techs and Quality Engineers. Assists in developing and analyzing high volume heat treatment and phosphate coating processes for the treatment of steel and aluminum bar, castings and forgings, which entails applying the principles of deformation processes, thermodynamics of materials, kinetics and diffusion and material selection. Be the auditee for the plant in ISO, NADCAP and IATF audits.



Requirements

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS / ABILITIES:

Good knowledge of the automotive industry and systems such as IS09001/IATF16949 and CQI-9, CQI-12, NADCAP.

Ability to plan, determine, formulate, establish and manage complete quality assurance systems.

Must maintain high quality standards, have a pleasant disposition and use tact in dealing with employees and customers.

Must be able to supervise, communicate, use computer related quality programs and have good writing skills.

Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point) and AS400 preferred.

Must be able to us higher mathematics involving engineering principles

QUALIFICATIONS:

Requires a degree in Metallurgy or related field

A minimum of five years of manufacturing experience or equivalent

Extensive knowledge of heat treating principles including time, temperature, transformation relations, different Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) steels, hardness and microstructural analysis and quality control using SPC (Statistical Process Control) techniques.
