Position Summary
The Senior Software Quality Control Engineer can work independently or as a team member in the full life cycle of a software development project. The Senior Software Quality Control Engineer can perform duties as a 'SME' Subject Matter Expert and capable of taking control of more in-depth projects and completing them successfully. They are also available to participate in analyzing, strategizing and assisting with the resolution of production emergencies as needed. Is adept at controlling a test environment as well as providing an independent evaluation of software. The Senior Software Quality Control Engineer takes directions from the Software Development Manager.
Responsibilities/Essential Functions
  • Continually developing and leading professional expertise in all aspects of test engineering.
  • Follow the department test process.
  • Evaluate and provide input to requirement documents at an in-depth level.
  • Able to lead and work through difficult problems for resolution
  • A seasoned, experienced professional with a full understanding of most of the specific jurisdictional requirements.
  • Exercise judgement in selecting testing methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.
  • Analyze and test concepts and understand project requirements.
  • Create and execute automated and manual testing on new and existing products.
  • Ensure quality meets the requisite functional, technical, and regulatory compliance and maintains high overall product quality.
  • Provide test plans, test scripts and test summary reports.
  • Interface with Lottery SIS and other Product and Development staff to resolve issues in a timely manner.
  • Gather and analyze data in support of business cases, proposed projects, and systems requirements.
  • Resolves complex issues in creative and effective ways.
  • Reproduce issues, when necessary, to assist software development in resolving issues.
  • Responsible for project escalations for each assigned project.
  • Submit clearly written bug reports and reporting results when necessary to the Software Quality Development Manager.
  • Create a test environment and then control the integrity of that environment during the life of a project.
  • Monitor status of bug reports creates during testing cycles and provide test metrics to management.
  • Provide general status and information about specific project risks to Software Development Managers and the Software Quality Control Engineering Manager.
  • Dictate and control proven analytical and problem-solving skills to help validate IT processes through careful testing to maximize the benefit of business investments in IT initiatives.
  • Mentor all levels of SQC Engineers on assigned projects.
  • Networks with key contacts outside Central Gaming Systems.
  • Determine methods and procedures on new assignments and may coordinate activities of other personnel (Team Lead)

Position Qualifications
Formal Education & Certification
  • 8+ years' experience in software testing, setting up test environments, testing and logging results; or equivalent experience.
  • Certified Tester Foundation Level (CTFL) from ISTQB preferred.
  • Certified Software Tester (CSTE) from Software Certifications preferred.
  • Project management skills and/or substantial exposure to project-based work structures.
  • A 2- or 4-year college degree, preferably in a technical area, is a plus.
  • In-depth knowledge of the lottery gaming industry.
  • A working knowledge or experience with the JIRA Issue Management tool preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office desktop applications, especially Word and Excel.
  • Useful prior experience for this position includes:
    Proficiency in supporting and navigating a Linux / Unix environment Selenium Web driver Perl or other shell scripting languages a plus Appium and/or Python a plus Jira bug / issue tracking and project management tool qTest test case management tool Able to write basic queries in SQL Server and JIRA boards Testing web applications Automated testing tools
  • Travel 5% or less. Possess valid papers allowing for travel on short notice, possibly to foreign destinations.
