Description:

The Probst Group is seeking a Process Engineer to support our customers and organization, specializing in industrial wastewater and the development of unique engineered solutions. Expectations for the Process Engineer:

  • Develop and review design calculations, engineering reports, technical memos, and troubleshooting guides, process and control narratives, and process control lab procedures using configurable modules for industrial wastewater treatment systems
  • Conduct feasibility studies, process evaluations, and alternatives analyses for treatment solutions, including both tried-and-true methods and new process treatment technologies
  • Work closely with the Project Management and Project Engineering Teams to review process design, delivering project work on time and within budget
  • Provide process guidance for startup and troubleshooting of full-scale plants and pilot systems, including startup planning, participating in on-site commissioning of plants, and assisting in training of the end user’s operators
  • Provide detailed review, analysis, and interpretation of wastewater operations data, troubleshooting process problems, and identifying the true root cause to correct process issues
  • Stay current with industry trends, regulations, and best practices, recommending the use of new technologies to the Project Development Team
  • Contribute to the overall education and understanding of the Probst team relating to wastewater process technologies
  • Prepare White Papers and present at trade shows, seminars, and upon request to customers or stakeholders to demonstrate Probst’s subject matter expertise
  • Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
  • 3+ years of previous work experience designing and developing wastewater treatment systems
  • Willing to work out of the Hartland, WI office
  • Master's Degree from an accredited university in Environmental Engineering (or equivalent), PhD Preferred
  • Travel up to 30% of the time
  • Display confident, concise, persuasive written & oral communication
  • Ability to manage and support several projects concurrently, meeting internal and external customer deadlines
  • Ability to read and understand process flow diagrams (PFDs) and piping & instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs)


Preferred experiences for the Process Engineer:

  • Preferably proficient in designing/operating biological treatments like Anaerobic Digestion, Enhanced Biological Nutrient Removal (EBPR), Nitrification/Denitrification, Upflow Anaerobic Sludge Blanket (UASB), Membrane Bioreactors (MBRs), Moving Bed Bioreactors (MBBRs)
  • Familiarity with Whole Effluent Toxicity testing and mitigation strategies
  • 5+ years’ experience in Industrial Wastewater Management
  • Experience in working with a diverse team or wastewater professionals
  • Familiar with biological modeling programs (e.g. BioWin)
  • Minitab or equivalent experience
