Test Engineering Intern
Mequon, WI | Department: Engineering | Reports to: Test Lab Supervisor
About Hayes Performance Systems:
Hayes Performance Systems is a trusted leader in precision engineering and manufacturing, serving industries like powersports, cycling, agriculture, construction, and government. Since 1946, we've built high-performance braking and suspension systems known worldwide for their quality and reliability. In 2023, we expanded through the acquisition of ACI Industries, strengthening our capabilities in complex machining and precision assembly.
At Hayes, we don't just make parts - we make performance possible. We value teamwork, problem-solving, and continuous improvement, and we're looking for people who want to grow with us.
Why You'll Love Working Here:
  • Flexible hours to support school schedules
  • Mentorship from experienced engineers and technicians
  • Holiday Parties and Employee Events throughout the year
  • A supportive, team-focused culture where your ideas are valued and your work makes an impact

The Opportunity:
We're hiring a Test Engineering Intern to join our engineering team. In this role, you'll get hands-on with real products, real testing, and real engineering challenges. You'll support our engineers in the test lab and see firsthand how designs are validated and improved before going into production.
What You'll Do:
Here's what your day-today might look like:
  • Help set up and run product tests in the lab
  • Work with engineers to gather meaningful test data
  • Record test procedures, results, photos, and videos
  • Turn results into clear reports, graphs, and tables
  • Support design validation and performance testing
  • Assist with troubleshooting and test improvements
  • Share results and observations with the engineering team
  • Help make our testing processes even better over time

What You Bring:
We're looking for someone who is:
  • Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in engineering (junior standing preferred)
  • Available part-time during the school year (10-20 hours/week) and full-time in the summer
  • Curious, hands-on, and excited to learn how things work
  • Comfortable using Word and Excel (we'll teach you the rest)
  • Interested in lab work, testing, or CAD (experience is a plus, not a must)
  • Organized, reliable, and a good communicator
  • Able to commute to our Mequon, WI location

You'll thrive in this role if you enjoy learning by doing, asking questions, and working with a team that likes to build, test, and improve real products.
