  • 1-2 years specialist training in specialty area
  • National certification in Sterile Processing is required.
  • Successful completion of certification in Sterile Supply Management & Supervisory experience preferred.

Position Summary
The Sterile Processing Assistant Manager's essential responsibilities are assisting with staff scheduling, interviewing, disciplining, and evaluating team members.
  • The Sterile Processing Assistant Manager maintains records to track instrument orders, track preventative maintenance for sterile processing equipment and monitors / prepares reports for infection control monthly.
  • The Sterile Processing Assistant Manager Manager assists and ensures proper use of sterilizing and cleaning equipment in sterile processing and the OR, the assembly of instrument trays, use of sterile technique and sterile processing.
  • Order supplies according to establish par levels and assist with physical inventory.
  • Assists Department Manager / Director with preparing budget for capital equipment and the operating budget.
  • Assists in maintaining monthly budget allocations for instrument repairs.
  • Meets routinely with Manager / Director, OR Materials Manager, and Sterile Core RN. Conducts Departmental meetings and in-services on regular basis.
  • Effectively uses and role models current leadership techniques and theories, encouraging the decision-making skills of staff members and providing insight and leadership in complex situations.
  • Ensures that information disseminated to staff is monitored for effectiveness and changed as needed.
  • Understands and enforces hospital and personnel policies and procedures.
  • Serve on hospital and Patient Care Services committees, teams, and work groups as requested.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements
This job can be physically demanding at times requiring stooping, sitting, standing, and walking for long periods of time. Must be able to work in a stressful environment, work independently, making sound decisions, detail oriented, alert, and self-motivated. Ability to push/pull up to 40lbs, carry and lift up to 50lbs.
