In this role you will be responsible for wastewater management systems.

What you'll do:
  • This leadership position is aimed at those individuals interested in leading big-picture, front-end planning work for wastewater management systems that may contain collection systems, treatment facilities, effluent management and biosolids management systems or some combination of these elements.
  • Successful candidates will have technical skills and knowledge that span broadly wastewater engineering planning/analysis/design and environmental science and will work alongside staff such as wastewater process engineers, environmental scientists, and infrastructure engineers who bring specific, focussed skill sets to projects.
  • Equally important and integral to this role are the skills and experience required to develop the wastewater management area of our core Water practice and mentor young professionals.
  • Projects will include master planning-type studies, regulatory assessments, and resource recovery opportunity analyses that may include solid waste and potable water elements.
  • Responsibilities will include leading planning projects and supporting design and implementation projects to provide continuity from earlier planning efforts.
  • Essential to this role is client liaison and business development. You will also support project pursuit teams in business development activities such as proposal preparation. In addition, you will contribute to topical marketing through activities such as conference presentations.

Does this sound like you?
  • An undergraduate degree in civil, chemical, or environmental engineering from an accredited university
  • A graduate degree in environmental engineering from an accredited university with thesis research conducted in a topic related to wastewater management is an asset
  • Eligibility for professional licensing with applicable provincial association (e.g. PEO, APEGBC, APEGA)
  • Minimum 10 years' experience in the subject area
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in a specific technical area(s) of wastewater engineering / management
  • Application and execution of the Class EA process (Ontario candidates) or Liquid Waste Management Plan / Municipal Wastewater Regulation processes (BC candidates)
  • Triple-bottom-line evaluation and risk assessment experience is an asset
  • Working in a consulting engineering environment
  • Effective project leadership, management, and organizational skills, including an ability to manage competing priorities
  • Committed team player with experience working with diverse teams, including managers, engineers, and operations and maintenance staff.
  • Excellent written communication and interpersonal and presentation skills with an ability to effectively engage audiences, as well as an ability to clearly summarize findings and offer meaningful insight
