Job description

We are seeking an experienced Senior Risk Analyst to provide independent risk oversight for our US Refined Products trading business. The ideal candidate will possess deep commercial and operational understanding of the US physical energy markets and be capable of partnering effectively with traders while maintaining robust risk governance.

The successful candidate should demonstrate:

  • 6-8 years of hands-on experience supporting a US hydrocarbons and refined products trading desk in a Risk, Middle Office, or Trading Control function.
  • Strong understanding of domestic and import refined products trading, including physical deal structures, supply logistics, inventory management, and commercial flows.
  • Thorough knowledge of the Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS) framework, including RINs, RVO obligations, blending economics, and associated market risks.
  • Practical experience with US pipeline logistics, including Colonial (CPL), Buckeye, Laurel, and other major pipeline systems, with a strong understanding of line space management, nominations, allocations, scheduling, and logistics constraints.
Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor and manage market risk across crude oil, refined products, NGLs and natural gas portfolios in the US hydrocarbon market.
  • Analyze price movements, supply-demand fundamentals, geopolitical developments and pipeline constraints affecting US energy markets.
  • Oversee hedging strategies based on futures, swaps and options to manage market risk.
  • Monitor risk exposures, VaR and stress testing, ensuring compliance with approved risk limits.
  • Provide risk analysis to trading management.
  • Produce risk reports and recommend mitigation actions.
  • Partner with Trading, Finance, Treasury and Operations to strengthen risk controls.
  • Support development of risk models, reporting and CTRM/ETRM enhancements.
  • Maintain relationships with banks, exchanges and external stakeholders on risk-related matters.
QualificationSkills
  • Strong knowledge of US hydrocarbon markets, including crude oil, refined products, natural gas and pipeline logistics.
  • Extensive experience with commodity derivatives and hedging.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills.
  • Experience with VaR, stress testing and market risk reporting.
  • Knowledge of CTRM/ETRM systems.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management.
  • Leadership and mentoring skills.
Education
  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, Mathematics or related discipline.
