Quality Engineer

Location: Comer, Georgia

Shift: First Shift

Overview

We are seeking a Quality Engineer to support quality systems, manufacturing processes, and continuous improvement initiatives within a composites manufacturing environment serving automotive, medical, and defense industries.

This role is responsible for ensuring products and processes meet customer and internal quality standards while supporting production, problem-solving, and process improvement activities. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, manufacturing quality experience, and the ability to work cross-functionally within a fast-paced environment.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to grow within a stable and expanding manufacturing operation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support daily manufacturing quality activities across production operations
  • Lead root cause analysis and corrective action activities using tools such as 8D, 5 Why, and Fishbone
  • Review and maintain quality documentation including control plans, PFMEAs, work instructions, and inspection standards
  • Investigate customer, supplier, and internal quality concerns and drive resolution activities
  • Monitor production quality metrics and identify opportunities for improvement
  • Support APQP, PPAP, First Article Inspections, and launch activities
  • Work closely with production, maintenance, and engineering teams to improve processes and reduce defects
  • Analyze scrap, rework, and non-conformance trends to improve manufacturing performance
  • Conduct audits and support compliance with IATF 16949 quality standards
  • Assist with inspection methods, gauge validation, and process capability studies
  • Support training and quality awareness initiatives throughout production
  • Maintain accurate records within ERP and QMS systems
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, or related field preferred
  • 2+ years of experience in a Quality Engineering or manufacturing quality role
  • Experience within automotive, composites, plastics, or manufacturing environments preferred
  • Understanding of IATF 16949, APQP, PPAP, PFMEA, SPC, and root cause analysis methods
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
  • Experience using measuring and inspection equipment
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and quality reporting tools
