About Hyp-tro Pro

Hyp-tro Pro is a growing division of Hyp-tro Building Services, LLC, providing professional plumbing, HVAC, electrical, maintenance, repair, and building service solutions for residential, commercial, government, and facility clients. We are seeking a skilled Journeyman Plumber to support plumbing service calls, repairs, installations, preventive maintenance, inspections, and project work across multiple property types.


Position Summary

The Journeyman Plumber will be responsible for performing plumbing work safely, efficiently, and in compliance with applicable plumbing codes, permit requirements, safety standards, project specifications, and company procedures. This position requires hands-on plumbing experience, strong troubleshooting skills, professionalism, and the ability to work independently or as part of a crew under the direction of a Lead Plumber, Master Plumber, or Project Manager.

The ideal candidate is dependable, detail-oriented, safety-focused, and capable of delivering quality plumbing service in residential, commercial, multifamily, government, and occupied facility environments.


Key Responsibilities

The Journeyman Plumber will:

  • Perform plumbing repairs, replacements, installations, preventive maintenance, inspections, and troubleshooting.
  • Install, repair, and maintain water lines, drain lines, waste and vent systems, fixtures, faucets, toilets, sinks, valves, pumps, water heaters, backflow devices, and related plumbing components.
  • Diagnose leaks, clogs, pressure issues, drainage problems, fixture failures, water heater issues, sewer line concerns, and piping deficiencies.
  • Read and interpret work orders, plumbing drawings, specifications, equipment manuals, and job instructions.
  • Ensure work is performed in compliance with applicable plumbing codes, safety requirements, permit conditions, and inspection standards.
  • Support permit and inspection requirements as directed by the Lead Plumber or Master Plumber.
  • Identify material needs, equipment needs, safety concerns, access issues, and potential change order conditions.
  • Coordinate with supervisors, project managers, building engineers, property managers, inspectors, vendors, and clients when required.
  • Complete accurate field documentation, including service notes, photos, material lists, labor hours, inspection results, and completion reports.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
  • Use company tools, equipment, vehicles, and materials responsibly.
  • Represent Hyp-tro Pro professionally in all field and client interactions.

Required Qualifications

  • Active Journeyman Plumber License preferred or required based on project jurisdiction.
  • Minimum of 3โ€“5 years of plumbing field experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of residential, commercial, and facility plumbing systems.
  • Ability to troubleshoot, repair, install, and maintain plumbing systems and fixtures.
  • Ability to read and understand work orders, specifications, basic plumbing drawings, and code requirements.
  • Experience with piping, fixtures, valves, pumps, water heaters, drain cleaning, leak repairs, and service work.
  • Valid driverโ€™s license and reliable transportation.
  • Ability to pass background checks where required for government, school, commercial, or secured facilities.
  • Strong communication, time management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a crew.

Preferred Qualifications

  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
  • Backflow certification.
  • Gas fitting experience or license.
  • Experience with commercial buildings, government contracts, multifamily properties, schools, or facility maintenance.
  • Experience with water heater installation, sewer/drain service, pump systems, fixture replacements, and tenant service calls.
  • Familiarity with mobile work orders, service software, digital reporting, and photo documentation.

Work Environment

This position may require work in residential properties, commercial buildings, mechanical rooms, utility spaces, construction sites, government facilities, schools, and occupied client spaces. The Journeyman Plumber must be able to lift materials, climb ladders, use hand and power tools, work in tight spaces, follow safety procedures, and comply with all jobsite requirements.
