Job description

Key Responsibilities

  • Review project plans, specifications, drawings, and bid documents.
  • Perform quantity takeoffs and detailed cost analyses.
  • Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier pricing.
  • Prepare comprehensive project estimates, budgets, and proposals.
  • Identify potential cost-saving opportunities and value engineering options.
  • Attend site visits and pre-bid meetings as required.
  • Maintain current pricing databases for labor, materials, and equipment.
  • Coordinate with project managers to ensure accurate project scope and budgeting.
  • Assist in contract negotiations and bid submissions.
  • Track awarded projects and compare estimated costs to actual project expenses.
  • Ensure estimates comply with company standards and profitability goals.

Qualifications

Required

  • Minimum of 3+ years of construction estimating experience.
  • Proven experience preparing estimates for residential, commercial, or remodeling projects.
  • Strong knowledge of construction materials, methods, and building codes.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, plans, and specifications.
  • Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and organizational abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines simultaneously.

Preferred

  • Experience with remodeling, restoration, roofing, or general contracting projects.
  • Knowledge of project management software.
  • Construction-related certifications or degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field.
