Hardware System Power Engineer - Apple Vision Pro

Description

Upon joining our team as a Hardware System Power Engineer, you will be directly applying your engineering expertise and working with many cross‑functional teams to realize products that consumers will love! We collaborate with a large number of groups to bring a product from concept to mass production. Our goal is to help define exciting product features that will touch our customers. Therefore you’ll have the ability to solve challenging engineering problems by selecting components, designing schematics, directing layout, and bringing up/debugging circuits in the lab.

You will work alongside partner teams to realize prototypes to aid in product definition and user testing. You will have access to state‑of‑the‑art test equipment in labs to perform characterization of your circuits. You will also be able to define test criteria and execute these test plans on functional prototypes to demonstrate the robustness of your designs.

You will be part of a team focusing on power, and will drive detailed power circuit design and characterization. You will also help review schematic and layout. You will be responsible for creating power test plans and guiding their execution in lab and high volume manufacturing environment. Some domestic & international travel will be required.

This role requires excellent interpersonal skills and proactive collaboration. You are curious minded, always seeking to learn while offering your expertise to teach and help others.

Minimum Qualifications
  • 5+ years of career experience
  • Strong Electrical Engineering fundamentals
  • Experience in power supply design and knowledge of DC‑DC power conversion topologies including trade‑offs required for size, efficiency and thermals
  • Experience with schematic capture & layout review.
  • Expertise in a lab environment using oscilloscopes and power measurement tools at IC as well as system level
  • Strong analytical problem‑solving skills
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Bachelors or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
Preferred Qualifications
  • Ability to understand and identify product trade‑offs (power, performance, etc.) and optimize designs to meet requirements
  • Experience and knowledge of PMIC architecture, implementation and validation
  • Working knowledge of embedded systems with focus on meeting tight constraints (i.e. power, size)
  • Knowledge in one or more of the following areas: CPU/SOC, battery, analog circuits
  • Experience working with mechanical design and software development teams.

At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $150,400 and $277,600, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.

Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple’s discretionary employee stock programs. Apple employees are eligible for discretionary restricted stock unit awards, and can purchase Apple stock at a discount if voluntarily participating in Apple’s Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
