Job description

JOB SUMMARY

This position is for a Registered Nurse, Pre-op whose responsibility is to schedule surgical procedures and pre-operative visits, conduct pre-operative interviews, assess the outpatient surgical patient and develop a plan of care as well as performing outpatient care procedures to facilitate ordered interventions from credentialed physicians.  This position utilizes the nursing process to assess, prioritize, plan, deliver and evaluate care provided to the neonate, infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric surgical population.  This position assists with activities to promote optimal patient care and efficient resource utilization.  The position reports to the Director of Surgical Services. 

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum level of Education: Graduation from an accredited school of nursing required with successful passing of the national NCLEX exam for professional nursing.

Formal Training: 2 years nursing experience preferred.

Licensure, Certifications & Registration:  Current license to practice professional nursing in the state of Georgia. BLS required.  ACLS, and PALS certification required within 90 days of employment.

Work Experience: Advanced technical nursing skills. Intermediate knowledge of the nursing process.  Basic word processing computer skills.  Experience in PACU / Pre-operative nursing preferred.

Experience in Phase I recovery, pre-operative care, infusions, IV insertions. Must be able to function autonomously in all phases of nursing care. Must be able to take call on a rotating basis and work flexibly within dynamic work schedule.Â
