Unarmed Security Officer
Role Summary

Unarmed Security Officer provides a safe and secure environment for clients, employees, and visitors by enforcing security policies and procedures. Officers may be assigned to armed or unarmed posts based on client needs. Responsibilities include conducting patrols, monitoring surveillance and access control systems, responding to alarms and emergencies, documenting incidents, and coordinating with law enforcement when necessary. This position is designated as a Safety Sensitive Function. Officers must demonstrate professionalism, integrity, sound judgment, and the ability to remain calm under pressure.

Officers must be eligible for registration with Security Engineers' Ohio-licensed security guard agency.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Eligible for registration under ORC Chapter 4749 as an employee of Security Engineers' Ohio-licensed security guard agency.
  • Minimum age: 18 for unarmed posts
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Customer service experience and professional demeanor.
  • Valid driver's license and approved MVR when driving duties are required.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Conduct foot and vehicle patrols to identify, deter, and report security concerns.
  • Monitor access points and verify employee, visitor, and contractor credentials.
  • Enforce site security procedures and post instructions.
  • Respond to alarms, emergencies, and security incidents.
  • Maintain accurate activity logs, incident reports, and documentation.
  • Communicate effectively by radio, telephone, and in person.
  • Operate CCTV, access control, alarm, and other security systems.
  • Secure buildings, doors, and restricted areas.
  • Provide assistance and customer service to employees and visitors.
  • Enforce company and client policies regarding parking, smoking, loitering, and other site rules.
  • For armed posts, safely carry, handle, store, and maintain Company-authorized firearms in accordance with law and policy.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and uniform.
Required Skills & Abilities

Minimum

  • Ability to perform in fast-paced, high-pressure environments.
  • Availability for weekends, holidays, rotating shifts, and overtime as needed.
  • Strong observation, situational awareness, and attention to detail.
  • Sound judgment, conflict resolution, and de-escalation skills.
  • Basic computer and mobile device proficiency.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred

  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications.
Physical Requirements

Education & Experience

Minimum
