Job Description Summary

The Private Debt Senior Investment Analyst role is responsible for supporting the management of Nationwide's Private Debt portfolio which includes credit funds, separately managed accounts ("SMAs") and co-investments. Responsibilities include supporting the following: new investment underwritings, management of the existing portfolio, the development of a new investment pipeline, fulfilling reporting needs, and special projects. As part of the Nationwide Corporate Credit Team, this individual will also have an opportunity to work across other fixed income asset classes including leveraged finance and investment grade corporate credit.
Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
  • Working under direct supervision to assist in the underwriting of new funds and co-investments, monitoring existing book of fund/SMAs exposure and co-investments as part of a collaborative team
  • Provide input into the analysis of existing portfolio of funds, SMAs and co-investment exposure
  • Assist with the review of structure and negotiation of terms
  • Assist with completion of legal documentation with internal and external legal counsel
  • Support the analysis of geopolitical impacts
  • Take an active role in the development of investment theses materials for investment committee presentation
  • Assist with the ongoing monitoring of the securities portfolio
  • Review credit and sector fundamentals
  • Assist with the early identification of emerging issues or risks
  • Collaborate with other departments regarding relative value, sector analysis, asset class dynamics and portfolio construction
  • Develop and maintain relationships with external business partners for deal flow and market color
  • Create streamlined reporting and produce portfolio reports as needed
  • Assist with data management and maintenance

Typical Skills and Experiences:
Education: Bachelor's degree with MBA preferable. Chartered Financial Analyst desired.
Experience: 4 to 7 years of related investment experience.
Knowledge, Abilities and Skills:
  • Solid understanding of fixed income and financial concepts
  • Understanding of economics and capital markets
  • Exceptional analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving capabilities
