Job description

General Manager
Hospitality Starts Here:
Welcome to The Indigo Road Hospitality Group (IRHG), where hospitality is more than a job; it's a family, a lifestyle, and an exciting journey. We believe that by taking care of you, you'll best take care of our guests. It's working. In addition to generous benefits and job openings across 30+ locations, we have internal growth opportunities for everyone who wants it. But most of all, we have heart!
Why Us:
Founded in 2009 by Steve Palmer, IRHG sets itself apart in the industry by fostering an environment where our people come first. We want to meet you. Come join us in our mission to change the hospitality industry, forever.
The Role:
St Albans Sporting Club is a flagship private social, dining, and travel club. We are seeking a dynamic, multi-faceted General Manager to lead the operations of this unique property. While world-class food and beverage will be a central pillar of your focus, this role transcends traditional restaurant management. You will serve as the operational anchor for a premier private membership ecosystem, ensuring an unparalleled, high-touch experience across every touchpoint of the Club.
As the General Manager, you will be a direct ambassador for both St Albans Sporting Club and Indigo Road, authentically embracing our commitment to Internal Hospitality. You will look after all aspects of the property-including club operations, F&B execution, financial performance, membership culture, curated programming, retail, and staff development.
What we will ask of you:
  • Elevate the Member Experience: Partner closely with the St Albans Sporting Club leadership team to deliver a seamless, exceptional member experience across all aspects of the Club, maintaining the highest standards well beyond just food and beverage.
  • Cultivate Community & Culture: Build deep, meaningful relationships with club members. Serve as a visible, engaging ambassador for the Club's lifestyle, values, and distinct culture.
  • Drive Curated Programming: Support member programming, high-end signature events, and private club functions in tight coordination with the Membership, Programming, and Marketing teams.
  • Lead Launch Operations: Actively assist with opening preparations, including talent acquisition, team training, the development of rigorous SOPs, and cross-departmental coordination to bring the flagship online successfully.
  • Oversee Club Commerce: Help manage and oversee the Club's retail operations and branded merchandise programs, ensuring brand alignment and quality control.
  • Nurture & Enrich Your Team: Foster staff development and cultivate a positive, collaborative atmosphere that motivates our team while effectively meeting P&L goals. Educate junior team members and fiercely advocate for their professional growth.
  • Be the Solution: Oversee day-to-day property dynamics, proactively resolving challenges by maintaining clear, open communication with team members, leadership, and the member community

Requirements for Success:
  • Proven Leadership: 5+ years of successfully running a high-volume, upscale, food-focused restaurant or premium hospitality operation (ideally managing 200-300 covers in an elevated environment).
  • Private Club Capability: Demonstrated experience or a strong aptitude for luxury hospitality, member relations, and managing multi-faceted private event execution.
  • Industry Curiosity: A genuine desire and excitement to learn about the outdoor sporting industry and lifestyle. While a background in this specific field is not required, you must be eager to immerse yourself in it, connect with our members, and champion the lifestyle authentically.
  • Operational Excellence: Exceptional organizational skills, strong financial acumen, and a keen eye for physical and experiential detail.
  • Emotional Intelligence: Compassion for people, effective communication skills, and the ability to comfortably navigate important, high-stakes conversations.
  • Value Alignment: A deep alignment with Indigo Road's core values of service, heart, and people-first leadership.

Benefits:
  • Target Compensation: A competitive base salary plus a performance bonus.
  • Paid Time Off: Generous PTO benefits active after 90 days, plus 4 weeks of paid PTO for maternity/paternity leave.
  • Health & Wellness: Comprehensive health insurance coverage, including medical, dental, vision, and auxiliary plans.
  • Financial Planning: Access to a 401K plan with a 50% company match on your first 6% investment, along with Roth options.
  • Home Loan Program: An innovative, zero-interest housing loan program to help team members achieve their dream of homeownership.
  • Employee Discounts: Enjoy dining and stay discounts across our 15+ restaurant concepts and rapidly growing boutique hotels division..

The above job description is not an exhaustive list of all the duties and responsibilities of the position, nor should it be construed as a contract.
