Familiarity with portfolio management software, CRM systems, and relevant certifications such as FINRA Series 7 or 66 is highly valuable. Exceptional interpersonal skills, discretion, and attention to detail help build trust and deliver personalized service to high-net-worth clients. These competencies are crucial for maintaining client satisfaction, ensuring compliance, and supporting the firm's reputation and growth.

We are equally committed to building a diverse workforce and inclusive culture where employees can use their talents to thrive and grow professionally with the firm.
About Us
Harbor Wealth Planning is a multigenerational private wealth management team within Janney Montgomery Scott LLC, entrusted with guiding more than $750 million in client assets. Recognized by Forbes as a Best-in-State Wealth Management Team, we advise multigenerational families, business owners, executives, and nonprofit organizations with complex financial needs spanning investments, estate and trust planning, philanthropy, and business transitions.
We operate with a collaborative team culture and a long-term ownership mindset. As our practice continues to grow, we are seeking a Registered Private Client Associate who wants to build a long-term career in wealth management and grow alongside our team.
The Role
This position combines high-touch client service and operational execution with meaningful exposure to financial planning, portfolio strategy, wealth transfer, and the management of complex client relationships.
You will play an important role in delivering an exceptional client experience while contributing to the continued growth and success of our practice. Responsibilities include:
  • Supporting Financial Advisors in managing and developing relationships with multigenerational families, business owners, executives, and nonprofit organizations
  • Preparing financial planning analyses, client meeting materials, account documentation, and follow-up items
  • Coordinating the onboarding and ongoing service of new and existing client relationships
  • Assisting with the implementation of portfolio strategies and wealth planning initiatives
  • Taking ownership of client service requests and ensuring timely, accurate follow-through
  • Managing client communications, scheduling, and proactive follow-up
  • Utilizing firm technology to improve workflows, organization, and responsiveness
  • Providing professional and thoughtful telephone and written communication
  • Collaborating closely with advisors and team members to maintain a high standard of client service and operational excellence

What We're Looking For
We are looking for someone who combines strong client-service instincts with attention to detail, intellectual curiosity, and a desire to develop deeper wealth management expertise.
Ideal candidates will have:
  • Series 7 and Series 66, or Series 7 with Series 63/65, and at least one year of financial services industry experience
  • Strong ethical standards and a client-first mindset
  • Exceptional client service and relationship-building skills
  • Clear and effective verbal and written communication abilities
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • A proactive approach and the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment
  • An interest in advanced financial planning, investments, wealth transfer, estate and trust planning, and family governance
  • A collaborative spirit and desire to contribute to a high-performing team
  • A genuine interest in building a long-term career in wealth management
  • Residence within commuting distance of Mystic, Connecticut, or willingness to relocate

Growth & Opportunity
We view this as a career-development role, not simply a support position. We invest heavily in our people and want the person who joins us to have the opportunity to expand their knowledge, responsibilities, and career over time.
You will receive:
  • Full sponsorship for additional licensing and professional designations, including CFP® and AWMA® programs
  • Direct mentorship and professional development from multiple experienced Financial Advisors
  • Hands-on exposure to sophisticated financial planning, investment management, estate and trust strategies, and complex client relationships
  • Opportunities to assume increasing responsibility in financial planning and client relationship management as your experience develops
  • Long-term career development opportunities, with the potential for future participation in the growth and ownership of our practice
  • Competitive base salary, annual bonus potential, and a comprehensive Janney benefits package

Janney's benefits include Paid Parental Leave, generous Paid Time Off, an Employee Ownership program, and a Professional Development Assistance Plan designed to support continued professional growth.
