Job description

The Resident Engineer will be a key member of the Bryant Construction Management Team in Lincoln, RI office, where he/she will provide support for the contract administration of assigned projects for a wide range of public and private sector clients, in support of their successful completion.


The Resident Engineer will be responsible for the overall field management of construction/design build contracts, administration and coordination of assigned projects.

RESPONSIBILITIES: (other duties may be assigned)

  • Manages, monitors activities of assigned staff to determine that the contractors’ activities conform to design specifications and contractual requirements.
  • Oversees the measurement and payment of contractor’s quantities of work performed.
  • Documents observations, non-compliance and corrective/preventative actions.
  • Coordinates work efforts of inspection staff, testing firm and laboratories.
  • Collects analyzes and organizes data to brief client on project issues. Makes suggestions for resolutions.
  • Drafts and reviews responses to contractor’s correspondence as required.
  • Provide guidance to inspection staff.
  • Act as on-site liaison between client, company personnel and contractor to resolve project issues.

REQUIRED SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills. Able to build and maintain strong relationships with contractor and the general public.

  • Must have a valid driver’s license and ability to pass a driving record check

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • 5+ years of related experience
  • Associates or BS in Construction Management or Civil Engineering a plus

COMPUTER SKILLS

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Proficient in SharePoint, ProjectWise, CM14 or other construction management software

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

TRAVEL:

Local travel to job sites and client meetings as required
