Job description

Position Summary

Tic Solutions is looking for a Director, Total Rewards responsible for assisting in setting the strategic direction of Acuren Compensation and Benefits and driving the implementation of such programs and plans. This position will oversee the Compensation function and the Total Rewards design for Acuren, to include performance management and employee recognition. Additionally, this position will lead and direct the planning of the day-to-day operations of group benefits programs for the U.S. including group health, dental, vision, pharmacy, short-term and long-term disability, life insurance, flexible spending plan, 401(k) plan and retirement plan plus appropriate benefits for Canadian employees. This position will develop professional vendor relationships and provide excellent internal customer service to Acuren employees and supervise the Compensation Manager and Benefits Administrator.

Responsibilities
  • Assist in the design, communication and implementation of a Compensation and Benefits strategy that is aligned with Acuren's business strategies and objectives to provide cost effective and quality programs.
  • Collaborate with business leaders and other support functions such as IT, HR and Finance to achieve Acuren business goals and objectives for Acuren employees. 
  • Manage the administration of benefits by:

    • Overseeing and managing the company benefits programs (group health, dental, vision, short-term and long-term disability, life insurance, flexible spending plan, 401(k) plans).
    • Assisting with appropriate Canadian group benefits.
    • Managing benefits administrator by planning, scheduling, and directing work.
    • Acting as Privacy Officer for health plans as dictated by HIPAA.
    • Serving on Benefits Committee and Retirement Committee.
    • Leading successful annual open enrollment for appropriate Acuren employees.
    • Managing and overseeing COBRA and terminations, employee benefit changes, adding and removing of beneficiaries, disability changes, accident and death claims, 401K rollovers,
    • QDROs, QMCSOs, distributions, loans, hardships and compliance testing for 5500s.
    • Overseeing the maintenance of employee benefits files and updating of employee payroll records.
    • Providing analytical and technical support in the delivery of the benefits programs offered through the employee benefits online portals.
    • Examining possible plan design changes for benefit harmonization and cost effectiveness.
    • Gathering employee data and overseeing the processing of monthly billings and the preparation of divisional cost accounting for payment of carrier bills for all group plans.
    • Assisting CHRO and Finance in the allocation of group insurance claims monthly and reviews quarterly.
    • Auditing the accuracy and performance of functions performed by benefits staff.
    • Providing reports to CHRO with analysis data for current benefits, evaluating the use, services, coverage, effectiveness, cost, plan experience and competitive trends in benefits
    • programs and identifies the company's stance.
    • Performing internal and external plan audits, ensuring benefits plans and programs are managed in compliance with plan documents and related state and federal guidelines.
    • Documenting and maintaining administrative procedures for assigned benefits processes.
    • Assists in the management of the benefits plan renewal process and broker negotiations with carriers for renewal.

    Develop and maintain non-union compensation structure and associated plans through:

    • Managing compensation functions including survey participation, job evaluation, salary structure, incentive plan design, and associated initiatives for non-union matrices.
    • Providing leadership and counsel to the Compensation Manager on the following:
      • Development, implementation, and administration of compensation programs procedures.
      • Evaluation of job descriptions, classes, titles, etc. to ensure appropriate placement in the salary structure and maintenance of the job evaluation matrix.
      • Research of compensation trends and participation in, or conducting surveys to ensure competitive positioning of the organizations' compensation processes and programs.
      • Creation or revision of job families and interrelated salary bands/ progression processes.
      • Compliance of programs with all relevant local, state, and federal legislation.
      • Oversight of non-union salary adjustments to ensure consistency and equity.

    Develop and maintain organizational performance management and recognition programs by:

    • Assessing the effectiveness of current performance management and recognition programs (i.e. service awards) in achieving organizational objectives.
    • Identifying best practices and benchmarks in organizational recognition and developing appropriate recommendations for modifications to align to business goals.
    • Effectively managing and collaborating with vendors and external partners, including managing performance of contracts to ensure maximum value of services is delivered.
    • Educating broader HR team and business leaders with respect to program principles, application, and delivery.
Requirements
  • Requires a bachelor's degree in human resources and/or Business, with a minimum of 15 years of experience in Total Rewards, specifically managing Compensation and Benefits plans and teams.
  • Capability of effective planning and priority setting, to manage several complex projects simultaneously while working under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical skills and a thorough knowledge of plan designs. Ability to understand, evaluate and make judgment on the proposals (RFPs).
  • Knowledge of benefits contract language
  • Knowledge of Compensation data analysis
  • Knowledge of all pertinent federal and state regulations, filing and compliance requirements, both adopted and pending, affecting employee benefits programs, including ERISA,
  • COBRA, FMLA, ADA, Section 125, workers' compensation, Medicare, COBRA, and Social Security and DOL requirements.
  • Excellent communication and organization skills.
  • SHRM-CP and CEBS professional designations preferred.
